As far as Link cosplayers go, these two are easily the best we've come across. It's especially impressive when you consider that they're both wearing the Link's Four Swords outfits and not his traditional green garb. Why is it that women seem to find more success in mimicking the Hylian hero's image? Is it his boyish frame? His unwhiskered cheeks? His effeminate, pointy ears?
Whatever it is, this pair captured it with a bug-catching net, stuck it in a bottle, and put it to work with these photos. Hit the gallery below for more action shots of the girls posing with boomerangs, miniature bows, and, uh, cell phones.

I rather dislike cosplay. But I must admit, those two are pretty sexy.

Cosplayers are nothing but attention whores -- especially female cosplayers. They'll go to cons and fondle and make out with other women just to get fans. They don't even have to be bisexual anymore. It's disgusting.

Way to blanket people you don't even know about with a general opinion.

Well, of course cosplaying is about getting attention. Sure it's an homage to a character you like, but the real thrill is in the feel of being a celebrity, everybody wanting to take pictures of you.
That said, I did feel a bit puzzled by many of the shots here--all the hugging and touching is definitely more about being sexy than being Link. Though in this case it's pretty tasteful, so I don't count that a bad thing.

I have no problem with that, does anyone else besides you?

Actually, there ARE some very good male Link cosplayers, you just need to uh, "lurk more".

If you're referring to me than I must say I've been lurking the internet since 1995. Cosplaying is "generally" a loser's hobby.
I know someone who quit college because "she had better things to do" like cosplaying and barely making ends meet working at Starbucks. She makes wigs for a living -- *somehow* I don't know how but cosplaying costs way too much than what it's worse and somehow people dig this stupid shit.
If you guys want to wank off to losers that quit college because they love some dead-end hobby, be my guest.

Nah, when I reply to you I reply to your thread. This is my own comment directed towards Eric who made the comment that females are better at cosplaying Link because of his features, which isn't true.
But from here on I WILL:
1. Who are you to judge what career is the best or what makes a good living? College isn't for everyone.
2. sry2say, but losers are everywhere. You can't say that cosplay/video games/whatever are for "losers", but there just happen to be losers in those fandoms. Especially now when you're judging the general population of cosplayers, on a video game blog. Yeah, that's how you put yourself on the higher moral ground /sarcasm
3. Look, just because you know ONE person that quit college doesn't mean the rest of cosplayers did it as well. You are so very wrong to think that. I know a big handful of cosplayers that are STILL in college. Making costumes and going to a couple conventions or so does NOT take up that many days out of the year. There are plenty of balanced college student cosplayers. And there are also many that have careers.
4. lolwut? Cosplay is not for wanking. They're to be enjoyed if the costumes are good.
5. SOME cosplayers are attention whores, not all. And you'll know if they're attention whores if someone or a few people have a vendetta against them. Hell, there may be a LOT of people. And then there's con drama. Though that doesn't mean that all people who pissed someone off is an attention whore, it could just be a misunderstanding or said people being pissed off are bitter bitches.
6. Cosplay is for fun. Some do it for awards, or competitions. Mainly it's just for the fun of acting out their favorite character, and interacting with other people in their fandom. Sure, some DO make out or grope each other, but that's called FANSERVICE. And yeah, there are some people that pretend to be bi just for attention. But again, not ALL cosplayers do this.
7. Just please, stop generalizing. If you want to talk about dead-end hobbies, look at video games from YOUR perspective. Just a waste of time, sitting in one place for hours on end. You're probably playing by yourself, or playing with people that you don't know. It's a waste of money, because you spend money on games, then trade them in for lesser value for a new game. Sometimes there are hardware failures. And you're probably wanking off to digital girls anyway. Some people fail college or drop out because they have better things to do. Some get angry because they lost in an online match and smash their keyboard. Some throw their controllers at the tv. Some commit suicide because their character died. Others don't buy nicer things for themselves because they spend too much money on video games. Some people get bad health because they are malnurished and stay up for days. Some spend their lunch money paying for MMO subscriptions.

You *can* make a career out of video games. Beta testing, texture artists, animation, modelling, game designing IN GENERAL.
You can't make a career out of acting out fictitious characters. And yes I know ONE person that quit college, but there are many who do that just for cosplaying as well.
>>4. lolwut? Cosplay is not for wanking. They're to be enjoyed if the costumes are good.
This article is certainly wanking over it, because why put this article in a *gaming news site*? Even IF it has to do with Zelda, if people want to see good cosplays go to those boards. Then you wouldn't have people like me hating on someone's hobby that apparently people can somehow make a living off of.
One last thing you can't make a career out of making costumes. I'm sorry there's no college for anime costumes.
Also tl;dr.

It doesn't necessarily have to be anime. Costuming is a part of fashion design.
And about careers in video games, most gamers get boners about wanting them without really knowing what it takes. LOL TESTING? I CAN PLAY EVERY GAME BEFORE IT COMES OUT LOLOLOL As much as anyone would like to get into that field, it's a career that few actually come to realize.
Hobbies!=careers As mentioned earlier, most (and I don't care how many you say drop out of college *just for* cosplaying) cosplayers do it. For. Fun. If people want to sell costumes as their job or on the side, that's their business.
As for the article, I wouldn't call it wank. It's humorous. The commenters are *generally* the ones getting off on these pictures, hell it made it onto Joystiq the next day, look at the comments on that article.
