Though we couldn't manage to load the game employing our usual methods of homebrew wizardry, LoneWolfDS: Flight From The Dark looks to be a very polished and complete release. It's a port of the first book released for the Lone Wolf series, a collection of "gamebooks" that allow the reader to take control of the story through branching narrative options, character customization (e.g. skills, disciplines), and other RPG-inspired elements. Think of it as a more involved and satisfying Choose Your Own Adventure.
It's clear from the official site and screenshots that Project Aon put a lot of thought and time into Flight From the Dark's presentation, so you should definitely try it out if the visual novel experience we described above sounds like something you'd fancy. Peek past the post break for a four-minute video of the game's character creation process and story progression.

Tried it out was really nice :) found some bugg that dissallowed me to equip weapons but else it seems really flawless. I remember when I first played with an gamebook at my friends house, they are often quite well written :)

That sure looks good! I would love to see some of the old fighting fantasy books using this engine; say, Creature of Havoc or on of the other top rated books

I would pay good money for the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks in this style.
Maybe all four of the Steve Jackson 'Sorcery!' books on one DS card for twenty bucks? Complete with the beautiful John Blanche artwork and appropriate music? The DS seems made for this format.
Just remember kids: always, ALWAYS sever the Gonchong's proboscis.

There are a ton of these books!! You can play and read them all online! I cant wait for them to get to the DS! I love Choose your Own adventure, but Choose your own adventure with character skills and powers! Even Better!

Lone Wolf! In the 90s these were our favorite hand-held games. A teacher made us do silent reading time every day in 6th grade but had to ban LW when he found out that we were secretly having fun during reading time.

I had that book and a few others in that series when they came out (yes I'm that old). WOW that Wiki took me back a few years. Of course, back then you could easily cheat. I'm totally checking this out.
