Trying to get my game on while experiencing the real-life version of Imagine: Babyz (only cuter and without the z) has opened my eyes to something: too many games require the use of both hands! I can read while cuddling the child, so why can't I sit around with my DS? Oh, sure, I can play a few games, but too many require both hands, which means they're going to sit on my shelf for a while. Why's this important? Well, it's really not, at least for me -- I'll survive -- but when reader Zack wrote in to tell us about his uncle, it made me pay particular attention. See, Zack's uncle only has full use of one hand, but he loves his DS. Zack wrote to us asking that we ask you for your recommendations on games that require mainly stylus input. Of course, he knows the obvious titles, like the Ace Attorney series ... what he's looking for are more obscure titles. Even homebrew games will work! So start your day off by doing something nice: recommend your favorites, and help out a fellow gamer.

Jam Sessions can be used one-handed and adapted for the right or left hand. The hand can hold the stylus and rest of the D-pad or buttons while strumming. With some practice, someone might be able to play it well.

I play FFTA with one hand. I find it's easy for turn based RPGs to play with just one hand. It's hard switching the hand but I usually do it that way while grinding and doing another activity.

First, get a stand for your DS.
Then play Ouendan, Final Fantasy Fables Chocobo Tales, Revenant Wings, Arkanoid...

You can enable 'touch anywhere' in Shiren the Wanderer to control it only with the stylus.
And then you can come rescue me in Pegasus Ridge. Please?

I'll get to you as soon as I can. There are a bunch of people in the mine I have to extract first. ;)

(Yeah, I play Shiren with both hands, but any stylus game makes a one-hander. I usually lie in bed with the DS leaning against the headboard to play Sudoku or NYT Crosswords. Mostly I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Hotel Dusk or the Touch Detective games yet!)

I've managed to play FFIII with just the stylus.
But I'd definitely second the recommendations for Hotel Dusk. What a fantastic game, and very easy to control completely with the stylus.

Exit DS only requires one hand (its an import though).
Clubhouse Games could be played with one hand. So could Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, Luminous Arc and Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales.
Really most DS RPGs with touch screen support can be played with 1 hand when you think about it.

Feel The Magix XX/YX and the Sequel Rub Rabbits I have been partial too, very hands-on arcadey, great series though some minigames are tedious.
Pinky Street: Kira Kira Dance Hour and Pinky Street: Kira Kira Dance Night are also great series, though the sequel's much better I think
