For this blogger, the only manga experience accrued has been in the form of reading the
greatest thing ever made. Other than that, this blogger has no experience with the medium. So imagine how excited we were when we received Josh's tip about
The Legend of Zelda manga possibly releasing to North America.
The rumor stems from a listing for the manga at Canadian retailer RightStuf. It says the 200 page book will be releasing on October 7th of this year and published by VIZ.
Considering the lack of concrete evidence supporting the claim, we're going to keep this one marked as a rumor for now.
[Thanks, Josh!]

Too bad the Zelda manga is terrible.

This might have been a good idea.....in 1998. Unfortunately it looks incredibly dated, and, considering that if this is, like that image would indicate, a manga version of the Ocarina of Time plot, it's not exactly anything Zelda fans aren't already familiar with.
And on top of that, wouldn't something like this fly in the face of Link's silent protagonist image? Not trying to be overly down on this or anything, but one can't help but wonder "why now?"

For starters, RightStuf is in Iowa not Canada. ^_^
Anime News Network mentioned this manga on their front page yesterday. So I think that kinda pushes it out of the "rumor" category and into the "coming soon" column.

Due to the popularity of the Zelda games the only reason I can see such a late release for this title is that there must have been licensing issues. I am still waiting for some manga to be released that were popular in Japan 6-7 years ago, so it just takes some time for certain titles.

I'm very excited about this! I've enjoyed the Zelda mangas, including the Ocarina of Time and the Majora's Mask mangas, both of which are, admittedly, dated in their artwork, compared to more recent releases (Triforce of the Gods, Four Swords +, Minish Cap), but I've found them all to be rather enjoyable, thanks to scanlations.
Also, Amazon has two volumes listed. One in October, the same date as the one here, and one in December.
