We don't have to tell you that
we've liked the look and turn-based gameplay of
Bleach: The Third Phantom. Don't get us wrong, we like fighting games as much as the next person, but we always appreciate a franchise trying to stay fresh. It looks like
Bleach: The Third Phantom might just do that.
If you're looking for a fresh fix, Gemaga has some new screens up for perusal. They show off some of the in-game menus, as well as a couple battles. Anyone interested in this installment in the franchise, or do you like your
Bleach to be strictly in fighting game form?

What little I can see of the RPG mechanics looks uninspired, so I suppose it comes down to story, though I don't have high hopes for that either considering that they're not going to put more effort into an original video game plot than they are original plots for the actual television show, so, for those of you familiar with Bleach, we can probably expect whatever story they manage to fit in here to make the Bount Arc look entertaining by comparison.
Based on the characters and setting from the images, it looks like new enemy X invades Soul Society, and none other than [gasp!] Ichigo has the power to stop them. Based on one of the images it even looks like the game's making Ichigo's Bankai look like it's still a big deal, so there's a chance it might even just be the Soul Society arc rehashed into an RPG plot.

Wait--stupid me, I take back the possibility of it being Soul Society arc rehashed. I don't know how but I completely missed seeing the new characters during my first glance at the images. I maintain that the original story will probably be abysmal, though.
