Before I owned my DS Lite, I used to play these kids DS Phat while babysitting (they'd always be being megafatties and watching TV the whole time and what not). They of course lost the stylus (what is wrong with kids? it HAS a special slot?!?) but luckily I found a paintbrush that could substitute for it just fine in the girl's art kit. (I used the plastic side, not the brush side)

I use my finger when selecting the game in the start screen if the rest of the game only uses buttons (I often prefer buttons anyway, and have a hori-pen as a stylus because the stylus is just too thin for long gaming sessions).

Finger, pen, Warhammer spears &c, chopsticks... Since I have screen protectors I'm cavalier about it.

I experienced having no stylus only once... for that I used my fingers and used a tip of the pen without the tip. But now that I have my DS case, I never have a time where I wouldn't have a stylus since I have a metal extensible one in the slot and one of those Mario stylus from the gachapon attached to the strap. Aside from the two, I have another Mario stylus and the regular stylus in the case.
I have a lot of styli with me but sometimes I just feel like using my fingers in games such as Phoenix Wright.

My other stylus is also a stylus. I have, so far:
1) Cobalt DS's black stylus (x2)
2) Now-dead ice blue DS's stylus (x2)
3) Extendable stylus (x2)
4) Oversized Dialga stylus
I keep one black stylus in the DS itself, a black and an ice blue in my Penguin United game case (the little stylus holder inside the front case is a bit big for one, but it holds two perfectly), and the Dialga stylus in my messenger bag. The other ice blue stylus is at home, one extendable stylus is at work, and the last extendable stylus is at my parents' house for when I visit them.
I may have a stylus-collecting issue.

I've always used the stylus that comes with my DS's. My friend would always use his and use a mechanical pencil, or pen.
I have a 4-in-1 pen that has a Blue, Black and Red ink pen, and also a stylus that I carry around in my pocket. I don't really use it for my DS, though, unless I'm doing homework and playing a game/using a homebrew app.

I don't have much occasion to use household objects in lieu of a stylus. I sometimes use my PDA stylus on my DS (it's a nice solid metal one). This is like the most boring comment ever.

I had a four-in-one pen: red pen, black pen, mechanical pencil, and a stylus.

I haven't lost a stylus yet, but a workmate borrowed my ds and used a bloody ballpoint on it. It still hasn't all come off the screen. Don't lend your ds to anyone, not even a best friend. Disrespectful swines!
