We wouldn't jump up and down in a fit over the greatness of a game without setting aside a few copies for you guys! And since we just loved
The World Ends With You, we're going to give three readers the chance for a crack at Square Enix's brilliant new outing. All you have to do is leave a comment right here on this post telling us what you think the very best DS game you've played is. If you were reviewing, what would be closest to the magical ten? We want to know, and that comment may just snag you a copy of
The World Ends With You ($39.99).
The contest will run through Monday, May 12; that night, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, entries will close, and we'll choose three winners in a random drawing. To enter, you must be
18 or older, and a current legal resident of the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec). Have questions? Check the official rules.

Personally I don't think there can be a "best game" for any system, only a best game for that category. I've gone back and forth on buying "The World Ends With You" because I'm just not 100% sure I'll like the combat system or not. But I'm always willing to try out new ideas and concepts, and it really seems like this game takes all the features of the DS and balls them into one game. It seems to be the most original "RPG" style game on the DS to date, for the american market at least. Currently I'm playing "Rondo Of Swords" and while it has it's ups, I'd have to say that Luminous Arc is still slightly better than Rondo. I love all the games I have for my DS and the next two I plan on owning are Contact and The World Ends With You. The very best DS game I've played though, I'd have to say is both of the Castlevania games. A good mix of multiple Genre's, not unlike The World...

Elite Beat Agents. The music requires requires heavy doses irony to enjoy, but the gameplay is novel and perfectly executed.

Personally, I'd go with Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. Yes, it has its flaws (do you hear me, Art Deparment?), but for all that, it succeeds in the penultimate goal of all games: to be FUN. It's feverishly addictive; after blasting through the excellent main game, you're driven beyond reason to go back and explore every nook of Dracula's castle, to collect every rare soul. Throw in the amusing extras (J's mode and, in a cool nod to SotN fans, Alucard's mode) and you have a solid, AAA package that, going by the pure amount of awesomeness packed into the cart, is the number 1 DS game.

Meteos.
If there was a theoretical game.
Mother 1+2+3 would be all 10s all across.

Mayors: I think I speak for all of us and say that Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is better than any games on the DS or any other platforming game.

I think I'd have to say Mario Kart DS. Easily the best in the series in my eyes. I only wish the Wii version had been as good. Great, but just not quite the same track design. And don't get me started on the rubber band!

Two games come to mind in a bout for best DS game. Both feature blasts from the past in the Nintendo universe. While one casts old school Nintendo characters as the backdrop for falling bricks, the other pits them against each other in a men vs. women vs. dino vs. ape vs. plant vs. ghost vs. (spoiler) robot race extravaganza. Both teased many of us with a high local multiplayer cap in a time when the Nintendo DS was too fat and ugly to make many new friends. Also, both offered similar online experiences. Tetris DS did well with reinvigorating the game five times over. Mario Kart DS, well, does what every iteration of Mario Kart seems to do. In the end, however, Mario Kart takes the cake. Not many of my friends like Tetris all that much. Well, not as much as they enjoy shooting shells and bananas. Considering Mario Kart (and myself) was (were) their main reason(s) for picking up DSs... it's really no toss up. Now if only Super Smash Bros. DS were underway...

I did give my favorite DS game a (not so) magical '10' in my IGN list and that went to Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan. Elite Beat Agents was a nice follow-up and it did some things better but the track list from the first Ouendan trumps EBA and Ouendan 2's track list combined.

I feel silly for saying it, but Pokemon, prolly.
Maybe it's just because I've always had a place for them in my heart?
Or maybe I have a subconscious addiction to cockfights?

I've really enjoyed New Super Mario Brothers and Final Fantasy 3. But I absolutely loved Phantom Hourglass. Not just me, but my wife loved it too, and she doesn't really play video games. That in and of itself says loads of how great this game is.

Haven't played it recently (work; also last difficulty mode is DIFFICULT), but EBA has definitely eaten more of my time than any other DS game. Close would be Mario Kart, but people cheating on wifi make me angry whenever I try to pick it up.
