The goal in this game is to start a successful fashion line. This doesn't mean that you "design" clothes, but rather, the outfits you "create" will be based on what people say to you in the street. Luckily, you don't have to know exactly what they're saying; just make sure to memorize any highlighted Japanese characters.
Beyond this, though, you also have to manage a little boutique in which your clothes will be sold. You can wear your outfits around town to show them off, and hope that will inspire customers to come to your store. Then, if your store becomes successful enough, you can open a new one and face different rivals.
Clearly That's QT is too niche for everyone to enjoy, but if you're into fashion or management sims, it might be worth a look.

You actually don't need to even memorize any Japanese words. When you engage in a dialogue with someone, a colored word might pop up. If it does, a light bulb will pop up between the two dialogue boxes. Click on that light bulb and the word will be saved to your list of 'buzzwords' in the game.
Then when you go to your desk in the designer room and tap it, all of the new words you've acquired will already be saved there and waiting for you. You then mix and match to create a design, pick colors and make a new clothing item.
Its really an entertaining game. Koei's already supposedly bringing Gabu*Gabu Planet/Prey the Stars to the US... maybe it should consider a US version of That's QT.

Well isn't that QT of Koei.

Thanks for clarifying that!
And yeah, I've very much looking forward to Prey the Stars! I'm just worried because there hasn't been any word on it for a while -- I hope that project wasn't ditched. It looks like a neat little puzzle game.
And I'd be all for Koei localizing other niche stuff, like That's QT. The more Japanese games we get over here, the better :).
