A quick word about the new art on Konami's Castlevania: Order of Eccelsia site for Japan -- badical. Several not-so-quick words -- we'd heard from early previews that series producer Koji Igarashi and his team were moving away from the anime character designs employed in the two previous Castlevania DS titles, but we weren't expecting the new art direction to impress us this much. Also -- hooker boots.
As for the "Nintendo Power secret" hinted in the title, look at the glowing satellite behind Order of Ecclesia's protagonist, Shanoa. Notice anything familiar? Doesn't it look like the same mystery moon Nintendo Power used as a clue in the latest issue's preview page? Peer into a telescope past the post break to compare!

Okay, the color's off, as are a lot of the markings and craters, so they're not exactly the same. They are, however, both moons. At least this gives us something to talk about while we wait for Konami to populate the bare site with more screenshots and a promised trailer.

Super evil hooker boots...
As much as I loved the first two DS installments, they weren't much different from each other. And this third installment doesn't look much different, either. Maybe it's just me, but after about 8 or 10 versions, the metroid-vania formula is getting a bit stale. I would really like to see the Wii version throw back to the more linear Castlevania games.

Ecclesia will have more linear levels too, apparently.

The wishful thinker in me hopes that the moon signified something a bit more significant, though i suppose more Castlevania is a godsend to many, and plenty significant
I don't see it, though
But that's the way to make a female dracula-hunting protagonist, yup

Graves.
IGA can't retcon out Nathan Graves. He's too much of a badass.
IGA can't retcon out Circle of the Moon because it was the last Castlevania game that I had a challenge in.
IGA can't retcon out CotM because I SAID SO.
Or Danasty.

The moon's meaning is obvious. First, It can obviously stand for this new Castlevania. But, in another article in the magazine, one of the writers talked about a top secret Wii game. The thing that brought all this together is that in EGM's rumor column, they mention a new Castlevania for DS- and one for Wii. so, the next big story from them is Order of Ecclesia and a new Wii Castlevania.

That sounds more feasible, coupled in with what that Konami guy said down in Brazil:

I thought that maybe the moon was a reference to Disgaea DS, which features a red moon as part of it's storyline (something to do with prinnies coming back to life if I remember correctly from playing it on PS2). Also the title of the game in Japan is Disgaea: Prince of the Demon World and the Red Moon. Of course the picture of the red moon could just as likely be referring to something else entirely though!
Regardless of that, I'm really looking forward to Castlevania Order of Ecclesia. I haven't played a Castlevania game for ages (never quite got around to playing the two previous DS versions) and this one just seems "right" to me for some reason.
