I thought Apollo Justice was a terrible name when I first heard it but it really grew on me when I actually played the game.

The pun names from the Ace Attorney series always make me chuckle inside, as well as how well the none-pun names have been localised, like Edgey. Can't really think of any other games like that myself.

Totally agree. In fact I was trying to find a good pic of Olga Orly for this post for just for that reason, but when I couldn't, I settled for Edgeworth (who also has a great name).

Ace Attorney names are definitely my favourite ones. There's Dick Gumshoe whose first and last name both mean detective, Winston Paine, a pun for "winced in pain" and Sal Manella just made me burst into tears of laughter.
Then there are the names which require some thinking about, not just puns. Lik Phoenix's, Apollo's or Edgey's names for example.

I've actually given this quite a bit of thought and I've come to the conclusion that the two best games in video game history are "Revolver Ocelot" and "Launch Octopus".

I've always felt that any of the members of FOXHOUND could have been mavericks in Mega Man X, and vice versa.

One of the funniest ones I can think of was on this ancient wrestling game on MAME called Exciting Hour. The first opponent was supposed to be called the Insane Warrior, but due to a typo or bad translation his name appeared as 'Insane Worrier'.
I just liked the idea of a wrestler who fights you while being crazy with worry!

I really like the name of Apollo Justice's Pal Meraktis. At first you think, "What?" But then you finally realize the pun and it's great.
(switch the p and the m and say it out loud)

Ohhhhh so that's what it was. I knew there was something fishy with that name! And it all started with Mr. Eldoon and his noodle stand.

Almost every character in the Ace Attorney series has a perfect name, either a pun or just fitting. Like others, I hated the name "Apollo Justice" at first, but I eventually warmed up to it.
And I like to think I'm a pretty smart guy, but there were definitely times I completely missed the obvious puns in the names. I remembered when I figured out "Will Powers." I felt so stupid for missing it...

Jigglypuff is the perfect name for it. And it's so fun to say; we actually started calling one of our cats Jigglypuff because she's cute, a bit round, and likes to roll. A lot of the older Pokemon names are pretty clever, as well.

The best names are all from Ace Attorney games, and the worst are all from Mega Man. I'm willing to bet that the game designers leaf through a dictionary ten minutes before giving the game any thought, looking for some noun or verb to put in front of the word 'man', thereby creating a theme for a level.
