Square Enix also announced the European release date for these titles, which is July 4th. Luckily (for this blogger), those of us in the U.S. and Canada won't have to wait as long to get these in our greedy little hands, as the North American date is June 17th.
Browsing through our galleries will give you a taste of the craziness that is SIE, while the Arkanoid DS pictures will show you some of its cool-shaped levels. We're definitely more stoked for the former, but maybe that's just us. How about you? Which revamped Taito classic are you looking forward to more?

I never had a strong affinity for Breakout/Arkanoid, though it is the definitive paddle control experience.
Does anybody know if they sell the paddle separately in Japan or if you have to buy it with a game? My friend is coming back this summer for his wedding, and I need to give him as explicit of instructions as possible.

You can either buy the paddle separately or bundled with Arkanoid, so no worries :)

I was able to buy a white paddle controller about a week ago from here:
http://www.superufo.com/pp/item_search_list.asp?keyword=paddle
Unlike Play-Asia, they still list all the colors available for shipping within 24 hours.
I can't wait to actually have something to use it for. :)

has there been confirmation that the paddle will still WORK with the US version, even though it is not being bundled? I have been hesitating importing a paddle on the chance that it would be worthless to the US game.
Please oh please let it work so I can import a paddle and be happy.

That was my dilemma when I found the paddles available at the above link: Do I grab one when I can? Or do I wait for confirmation that it works with the US version and take the chance that I wouldn't be able to get one by then? Since I've still yet to hear that it won't work, I took the chance and grabbed one. It cost me $28.60, including shipping to Connecticut.
