The real news is on the new Dragon Quest series site, which shows pretty unambiguously that the Dragon Quest V and VI remakes are on the way as well, with matching alliterative subtitles (Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie). This will be the first U.S. release for these two games (IV was released on the NES) and their availability will mean that, for the first time since IV, every main Dragon Quest game has had a U.S. release.

So maybe there really is hope for a DS remake of the greatest spin-off, Torneko: The Last Hope?

I've waited quite some time for this.
A lot of people seem to get down on Dragon Quest for it's ancient mechanics, but that's pretty much the appeal. I -like- getting lost in a nice, familiar type of game. It relaxes me so nicely. Dragon Quest games have also been just good at making fun worlds that I want to spend time wandering around in.

This is great news! I played Dragon Quest 1 and 3 on Game Boy Color and loved them! Two was okay; I just never got much into it for some reason.
