It looks like IGA might be branching out just a bit in the future -- still in 2D, but he hinted that he had something new on the way. Something ... maybe not on the DS. "This time, I announced a DS title, but I definitely want to grow the franchise. It's something I'm really focused on. You guys will probably be hearing something from me."
It sounds like whatever the project is, it'll still be the "Igavania" style we know, since according to IGA, the more linear Rondo of Blood PSP port was good, but "not something that I can jump up and down and enjoy like I do with the DS titles."

I love 2-d graphics and i love 2-d games. An i hope they never die. I'm not really into all of this 3-d, HD, 1080p or 1080i, or whatever you call it. I don't play 3-d games anymore because of it. There's too much concentration on visuals nowadays. It's boring. I miss the days of simple 2-d sprites.
But i know that alot of work goes into creating those 2-d sprites. I remember IGA, said something about that before, in one of his past interviews that i read somewhere. Or was it Vanillaware? Ah! I don't remember. I think they both said that.

The more 2D Castlevania, the better. I do wish, however, that they'd find a formula for a 3D Castlevania that really works. Something between Legacy of Darkness and Lament of Innocence would be fine with me.
