What do you need to do to win? Just tell us about some of the most difficult games you've played on the DS here in the comments on this post. You may enter once per day. One grand prize winner will walk away with a copy of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard ($29.99), as well as the Monaco case ($24.95), and a second winner will pick up the game as well. The contest will run through Monday, June 30; that night, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, entries will close, and we'll choose two winners in a random drawing. To enter, you must be 18 or older, and a current legal resident of the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec). Have questions? Check the official rules.

My vote's for Sprung. Remember that game? Having to navigate dialog trees, sometimes thirty or forty pages long, with only one "path" through the choices that lead to success? And you could pick the wrong line, which would make it impossible to win, but the game wouldn't tell you that until about five minutes later? Yeah, good times.
Either that, or Jam Sessions. It's about as hard to pick up as really learning to play acoustic, so for someone like me with no guitar skills, it was pretty tough.

It would have to be Final Fantasy III. I am still stuck in the last dungeon! I hope Final Fantasy IV will be easier.

Well, my DS exposure is pretty limited, so of the, what, three games I've tried, it comes down between FFIII and MPH:FH. FFIII prolly wins out, though, since First Hunt was more a case of actualy handling the thing, whereas FFIII features dungeons that will either hand you your ass or just get in your way, with both setups leading to a boss that you'll hope to damage enough before having to use that last Phoenix Down. Damn you, Salamander and your cheap fire breath move! *shakes fist*
Prepare for a daily Copy+Paste of the above!

I know you guys are going to hear this over and over again probably, but it would have to be Contra. I've never beat the first one, probably never going to be able to be this one. I try at it for an hour, get a little bit farther each time, but its just futile...

Sunday puzzles in NYT Crosswords are very hard. Rondo of Swords is pretty difficult as well.

Hardest DS game for me was Trauma Center. Still haven't finished it. It stopped being fun.
But old-school RPGs are a different kind of hard. I played the original Wizardry on my Apple IIc forever. The labyrinth was littered with the corpses of my dead heros. The basement was littered with reams of graph paper maps. It never stopped being fun.

Hardest DS game?
Well, the only games I currently own are Pokemon and Advance Wars DS, neither of which are particularly challenging, especially as a veteran of both series. Although, I must say that the Elite Four in D/P are much harder than in previous installments.

I'm having a hard time with some parts of The World Ends with You, but Picross DS has some brain-killing puzzles as well.

most of the ds games i've played haven't been especially challenging, but some missions in advanced wars: days of ruin were pretty tough

Definitely Rondo of Swords. Shiren the Wanderer is probably a close second. No room for error in either.
