Still, it's not as though Euro consumers Can't Decide What to Buy -- most top tens are filled with the usual suspects, at least until next week, when Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift and Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword arrive on our fair shores. Until then, scour all manner of charts past the break!

Picked up the Cooking Guide one and it's great. But I wished they added a kosher or hallal icon to the dishes to make it more universal.

I think that's because they decided not to go the extra mile and only did a straight-up translation from the Japanese version (and I don't think this information is easy to come by for the Japanese recipes, but I could be wrong). It took them a few years to bring it to Europe, though- they should have been able to.

I think it's because it's not a game so don't expect it to sell like one. Like, for example, a fiction book may be sensationalized (e.g. Harry Potter) but who has ever heard of a "best-seller" that's a cookbook? So basically, I don't think it's over yet - the sales may come in slowly and surely.

Really, so a casual non-game flopped? Surely this is cause for celebration! Maybe the reign of blandness is coming to an end. Living in the UK and having had to put up with Cooking Guide's horribly twee advert all week, this is the best news I've heard in ages. Long live games!

Oh please no. I've been using the Japanese version for a while now and it's the best cookbook I've ever used. This and the dictionaries get more use than the games, I think. Stop the non-games and I think a lot of the DS's appeal will be lost.

Cooking guide is a great first try.
Its the largest DS game yet, weighing in at 256 megs.
The Voice used for the guide is great, speaking clearly every time, with an adjustable speed, in case you prefer it slower.
The Search feature is a breeze, you can sort it by ingredients to include or exclude, nationality, and even key words like Spicy or Creamy.
It has by far the BEST Handwriting software I have ever seen on a DS Game, or any commercial electronic Device.
So much so that I would like to see it in other DS Games and such that will require writing. Writing was so quick and simple.
The Voice Recognition was pretty good, not spot on every time, but in the peace and quiet of my kitchen it worked out great. I was able to sit the DS on the counter on a paper towel and prompt it to move forward with a simple "Continue".
The game even has a nice built in calculator and Cooking timer.
The only real disappointment was the game itself was overly multicultural in its recipe selections.
I would like to see a more regional cookbook. Cooking Guide France, Cooking Guide USA, Cooking Guide UK.
If each regional game has the same number of Recipes in it, but of only one region this would be the perfect Non-Game DS TOOL.
I give Cooking Guide 9 out of 10.
Its an Excellent non-game using the DS Software and Hardware perfectly even if the Recipe selection is a bit lacking.

I...I have no idea if I should thank you or curse you, but your review singlehandedly has sent me flying to ebay and the like in hopes of finding an imported copy. I'm such a bad cook that my cake turned out like brownies (delicious brownies, though!), and my pie was mistaken for quiche. I could use something like this.
