So, what about those precedents? Well, for one, it's the single most successful game launch on the DS for the company. Not only that, but Guitar Hero: On Tour is also "one of Activision's top five best-selling launches of any title on any platform in the company's history." Now that's impressive.
Did you pick up On Tour? What do you think of the game?

I got it, and it's a fun game. I think people get too caught up in the "does it feel like playing a guitar?" thing. It's a fun rhythm game with a decent soundtrack. I'm hoping for some expansion carts will come since it was such a success. I suppose I can continue to dream that there will be a Guitar Hero: Symphonic Metal someday...

What relation is symphonic metal to power metal? I get confused by the subgenres. Either way, I hope you're either ready for wrist injuries or a robot. ;)

It's all interpretation really, but I think of symphonic metal as power metal, with a classical spin. Nightwish, Kamelot, Xandria, Krypteria, Epica. That kind of stuff.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to that too. I know some comprehensive DS rom hacking has happened for other games, so there's no reason this one would be different. Eager for some custom On Tour roms to go on my R4 :)

I've been playing it last weekend. It's definitely a whole new gaming experience. My older brother prefers it than our guitar hero on the xbox... and I think it's kinda weird.
I hope someone develops a homebrew rhythm game that makes use of the peripheral.
The only thing stopping me from playing the game is the fact that I always have to remove and replace my clear casing because the grip doesn't fit if it's there.

I bought it the other day. It's pretty fun, but there's not too many songs to go around. One key reason I bought it was because of the Guitar Grip. The DS homebrew scene is already utilizing it for their own uses, like BassAceGold using it for his UAPaint program.

Sometimes it feels more authentic than playing on the guitar controller for console versions. I think it's pretty genius how they made the strumming possible without lifting the pick at all.
And even though the set list is more mainstream, and not so intense (guitar-wise) Songs I normally don't like; I find myself having fun playing on this game (e.g. This Love)
