Mitsuda's reaction when he heard about the remake ... er, we mean, port? "Finally!" That pretty much sums it up in one word. In an interview with 1UP, he told the gaming site, "I had the music for the Nintendo DS version stay as close as possible to the SNES original, so I think you'll like how it turns out. Whether you're playing for the first time or reflecting on the past as you go, I hope all of you enjoy it." It sounds to us like the music is almost as similar to its roots as the rest of the port, but that's one element that's completely timeless
Do those of you that played the game remember the music in it at all? Or was that one aspect that's evaporated from your brain over time?

Mr. Mitsuda's music always stays with me long after I finish the games; he also composed the soundtrack to Xenogears, one of the finest RPGs, and finest soundtracks on the original Playstation!

Easily one of the best 16-bit soundtracks produced, the sounds of this masterpiece still get playtime even today.

I recently started playing.
Gato's theme is permanently burnt into my brain.
I kind of want to cry.

The music of Chrono Trigger is one of the best parts of the game. Long after the game is over, I still remember and play the unforgettable music in my head. The CT OST, IMHO, is one of the best game music I've ever heard.

I don't like the game itself, but the music is absolutely *PHENOMENAL*, so I'm interested in hearing how the DS version's music is, even though I'm not going to buy the game.
...I didn't know the DS version was going to have different music than the SNES version, though...

I wouldn't have minded a more rearranged soundtrack for CTDS...but oh well. I recommend downloading the OverClocked ReMix Chrono Trigger project, Chrono Symphonic though if you like CT's music. It's really amazing. :o

I only listen to the soundtrack EVERY FRICKIN DAY. Mitsuda's one of my favorite composers because of it. Hearing tunes that are remotely similar to CT songs brings a tear of joy to my eye. ^__^

So, Mitsuada did the music for the re-make, but composed new pieces based on the original pieces?

What did you expect from Disgaea DS? It's a PS2 game ported to PSP, then ported from PSP to DS.
PSP discs can hold over 4 times the biggest DS cart, and it has better 3D graphics ability.

I bet the soundtracks going to sound even better on CTDS now that he has a bit more power to work with(good thing the DS supports headphones). Hopefully he'll make the soundtrack for FFXIII too while he's working with Sqeenix .

Haha! What kind of dumb question is this DSFanboy? I have to assume now that you've never played Chrono Trigger otherwise you would have just assumed that everyone who's played it loves the music.
For a far better analysis that I could even put together on how awesome the soundtrack is, check out Into The Scores Chrono Trigger episode at: http://intothescore.blueandbrownbooks.com/2007/02/14/04-to-far-away-times/

Arrrrre ya kidding??? Of course, I remember the CT music! I find myself randomly humming it all the time. And that's not to mention that I have the soundtrack on my iTunes and listen to it on the go quite often.
Mitsuda's work is some of the best vg music I've ever heard.
