What? Even smaller? I already get cramps, when I have to use the Dpad on the DS lite.

this could make or break nintendo's plans for the future of the ds.
*minus: without the gba slot that means no ds backups.
*plus: more ram means that nintendo may bring back a new and improved(flash enabled) web browser. because if they did that that would mean big bucks for nintendo because for us who did buy the ds web browser when it first came out. the disipointment of no flash was big, dedicated fans of the browser would go buy the new one if one ever came out.

they'll still have the micros up for sale anyway. As long as the design looks hot I don't mind.

Yes I want it, I never use gba slot on my DS lite. If this rumor is true, I have a reason to buy another DS so I can give my old DS Lite to my nephew.

If they cut the GBA slot I probably won't buy it; I know I'm not the only one that enjoys their GBA games as much as their DS games. Removal of that slot would be a rather disappointing move, for me anyway.
Plus, the Lite is already small enough, in fact, I would argue it's a little too small. My little cousin loves the compact size, but sometimes I yearn for old phat DS. The larger form was a little more comfy for extended play.

No.
While an accelerometer is a welcome change, I actually had much better expectations from Nintendo. My hope is for a DS+ device with slightly larger screens (just slightly, same resolution), more RAM, faster processor, better buttons, louder/better sound generation... sure, I dream wildly, but that's what I wanted.

An accelerometer would be dumb. Moving around the DS means you'll be moving around your head to keep track of the screen. It's not like on a TV where the controller moves but what you're seeing stays put so you don't lose track of it.

I've been looking forward to E3 solely for news of a DS redesign. I'd love a smaller one, I never use the GBA slot. If a redesign did happen, I'd just give my current DS to my wife so if I had a need for a GBA-slotted DS, I'd still have one around.
I love the DS for its portability. Yes, it's a small device, but it still doesn't fit comfortably in the front pocket of most pairs of jeans/shorts/khakis. I take my DS everywhere I go and the more portable it is, the happier I'll be.

I just don't think a DS re-design is at all necessary. The PSP's recent resurgence in Japan has nothing to do with the DS's hardware as such, more the flood of awful casual training shovelware that is swamping it. Nintendo needs to sort out the software front (by bringing out some amazing games), not the hardware one.
Plus in the west the DS Lite is still the number one console week in, week out so a re-design certainly isn't necessary over here at the moment. Though the casual shovelware problem certainly is.

Smaller size? No thanks. I've finally gotten used to the Lite's size, but please, no smaller
No more GBA slot? I suppose it makes sense. There are only a few GBA games still worth playing, and you can do that on your old Lite.
Motion sensor? What do we need that for? I don't want games that require shaking the thing around. The microphone is bad enough as it is. Besides, it would be kinda hard to keep your eyes on the screen if you need to dance around with your DS.

This rumor about gba slot is too old. I don't know where I read it. Here or in another forum. The gba slot is gonna be remove and it will put more ram to be powerful to handle future games

If they would all extras which usually plugged by mean of GBA slot - then every body would be happy.
Since I do not use GBA slot at all, I wouldn't be affected in any way.
But about making DS smaller... I have my doubts in that department. N would definitely need to come up with some improved grip for slimmer DS.

I believe the source behind this rumor is right here on dsfanboy. It's the pic of the redesign on the front page. Dunno why but sum ppl have assumed that that's what the redesign will look like and if u look closely you'll see that there is no GBA slot. Oh well.

There already is a DS redesign..it's called the DS Lite.
Seriously, the DS doesn't need to get any smaller, removing the GBA slot is not an improvement, and we don't need any other fancy but useless features.
If they're going to announce anything hardware-related, it better be a whole new handheld.

If it isnīt broke, why fix it? the DS is just doing fine, why remove the gba slot, i still play my FFA, Golden Sun, Warioware twisted, and what about the guitar hero, arkanoid paddle and tha mouse-esque thing peripherals, not to mention the Opera browser ram expansion?.
Just because you donīt use it doesnīt mean is useless, anyway what i really liked about nintendo portables is the backwards compatibility (except for the DS, now i have a useless zelda: linkīs awakening).
I really think that a redesign at this point is useless, the DSlite is small enough, it sells well enough... itīs fine!
What we REALLY need itīs more GOOD games.

Why would nintendo get rid of the gba slot especially now that guitar hero on tour is a huge money maker for them? Getting rid of the gba slot would be a slap in the face to activision, which wouldn't make any sense whatsoever.
