Technically, you could have seen almost every screen of
Chrono Trigger that a magazine or website would be able to share, on account of the game having been released for several years. If it's not an image of the map/interface screen found on the touchscreen, or of the new dungeon, then it's basically a screen of a Super NES game.
However, you may be able to infer from the fact that
we are publishing this post that we consider
Chrono Trigger awesome enough for us to share screens with you no matter their age. Besides, even after twelve years, it's still a very nice-looking game.

Seriously, with a release date of before the year ending you would think at least 1 screenshot would've been released or leaked by now :-\.
Then again with 95% of the game having been done since 10 yrs ago its not like they behind schedule.
I just hope they actually use both screens correctly and not do some half-ass filler like they did with Metal Slug 7.

I don't really know about this game. Unless they share any real info about what makes the DS version different from the rest, it's still the same game I played over 10 years ago (and still own). This may be really lazy on Square-Enix's part to cash in on a beloved title. It's kind of ridiculous. Let's hope we get some real info soon.

Uh, they HAVE shared info on what makes it different. It'll have a slightly reworked translation, all menus including in battle will appear on the touchscreen, a new dungeon, the PS1 cutscenes included without the loadtimes associated with that version, AND an identical to the original single-screen version included on the cart as well.
What more info do you want?

A sequel?

Chrono Cross is an awesome game, but I'm not sure the DS is capable of PS1 level graphics.

I could easily see DS handling a game like Chrono Cross. The only issue would be fitting all those CGM in there and Act Imagine could probably take up that challenge.

Hmm...I've seen enough Secret of Mana sequels to know, without a doubt, that I don't want SquareEnix attempting anything except for a re-release of the old SquareSoft gems.
And I don't understand the complaints about a port of a great 10 year old SNES RPG that has become too expensive to bother buying again. If you have your SNES copy still, fantastic! You don't need to buy the new one. But I really like the idea that younger gamers are going to be able to enjoy a game that I enjoyed as a kid, without having to pay through the nose for a copy on ebay.

Chrono Cross wasn't really a sequel to Chrono Trigger. It was more like something in spirit, much like Xenosaga to Xenogears. I meant a real sequel, where we find out more on the characters themselves. That sort of thing. I'm hoping that depending on the success of this title, we'll either hear something about a new title in the series. Hell, maybe they'll announce something at the Square-Enix Festival or TGS.

You do find out what happens to the Chrono Trigger characters in Chrono Cross. It's just that the game isn't about them.
What I really wished for was for Radical Dreamers to be included as an extra. I would have preferred that to a new translation of Chrono Trigger.

I agree with you, if they included Radical Dreamers that would be really nice, especially because it wasn't released here ^^

Yeah, an updated Radical Dreamers would be pretty cool. I was surprised after playing it that it was nothing like CT or CC, but I didn't mind. It was pretty enjoyable, and funny at times as well. :-)

I wouldn't even care about a 'true sequel' if after this they remade Chrono Cross (I do NOT want a port of that.)
Changes that would need to be made:
Cut down the useless characters to a fraction of what they are. (Seriously, 8-10 is okay. 45 is pushing it).
In addition to the above, make them, I don't know... REAL CHARACTERS. Not just people who say the exact same thing in a different accent, adding to the fact that I don't care about any of them.
Change the combat system entirely. The collecting elements type thing is neat in practice, but just doesn't work. Choosing to do multiple hits or one more powerful one for melee was pretty good though, if I remember right.
I think that would probably be enough to make it a great game. The battle system honestly wasn't the biggest flaw though, its the characters and the fact you don't care about any, which is the opposite of how Chrono Trigger was. Near the end it was always a tough decision who to pick because I liked them all in CT.

I agree that between the alternate plotlines and endings and the over-customizable magic system and parties, the player could really have trouble keeping focus. I'd also prefer they tighten up all those aspects a little bit...
As long as alternate dimension Leena is a playable character.

Is it just me, or does that last image look like they've changed the battle menus?
