Rejigged versions of both Brain Age games will be available for the Nintendo DSi when the upgraded handheld launches. Brain Age 1 and 2 will be the first titles available from the DSi shop, according to Nintendo name-taker Reggie Fils-Aime, who also revealed that each will feature DSi functionality of some kind.In truth, Nintendo couldn't have settled on a safer two titles to launch the DSi store, with both games having sold a quite obscene number of copies in all regions (particularly Europe). The lack of risk-taking involved on Nintendo's part is disappointing to us, though there's plenty of time for innovative games to follow. Bet they don't fix the voice recognition, though.

I'd say it kind of makes sense to make good selling launch titles, not risky ones.
Did they say the brain age ones would be the only ones at launch?

I don't think they chose those two games merely because it's the safe option. Sure they are popular and will likely sell well, but I think it also has to do with the fact that the two Brain Age games are very small in size and will require next to nothing in development costs to get them to the new service.
New games for DSWare will surely come in the future, but for now those are two good options to start it off.

Remember this post:
http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/05/04/iwata-reminds-nintendo-of-america-whos-boss/
Quote: "When I received a report from the U.S. that they sold 1 million Pokémon Diamond & Pearl already, I asked them, 'why did you sell only 10,000 Brain Age last week, when Europe sold through 30,000?' This is a typical example of how I communicate with our people in the U.S."
Brain Age & Brain Age 2 expands Nintendo's marketshare to non-traditional user (adults & seniors who do not generally play video games). Selling to new customers, not rather than existing customers is important to Nintendo, as it increases it's customer base.
So irregardless of what you might think about Brain Age/Brain Age 2, Nintendo would rather sell either game, then say another Castlevania.
Peace.

No, that's not true. You're taking the quote out of context. If it had been Pokemon that had only sold 10,000 and Brain Age had sold millions, Iwata would be asking why Pokemon wasn't selling.

Pokemon would NEVER sell only 10,000. LOL
Iwata wants to expand Nintendo demographics and marketshare.
Peace.
