you guys are all talking about the camera and the mp3 player in it
list that's not all that's gunna be there
there will be apps and games you can down load (probably gba's too if that whole no gba slot got you down)
its more convenient then carrying about all 3
there will be an internet browser on it
the things gunna be awesome
ill get one AND keep my lite its not like im losing anything except cash

I said thanks but no thanks to that redesign to nowhere. Seriously, though; with a 0.3 megapixel camera, a virtual console that's likely going to be sparse in worthwhile offerings, and screens that are larger without displaying graphics in a higher resolution, every added feature has more going against it than for it. I'll happily wait for the DS2 or a PSP Brite in a color I want bundled with a game I want.

I'll be getting it, I never upgraded to the DS lite, so this will be my first new DS since my original one when they first came out. Hate to retire the old boy, but, the features are to good for me. I know its not a big 'wow' now, but just wait till people/games use these camera's, SD slots for features...

Right now I don't see enough enticement to get it. Everyone's assuming that the music playback is mp3, but I've read that it will be AAC. I don't use iTunes, so that would be near useless to me.
Unless some exclusive killer app comes out for it, can't see the need to upgrade.

For me there are some un-answered questions...
Will the Wi-Fi contain WPA?
Will the built-in browser support Flash etc.?
Is the ROM updatable, so later they would add some new features via firmware update?
I like the new features, but I hoped for more. I don't know whether I'm getting it. If a nice limited edition design comes out, then I might swap my current DS for DSi. But I'm definitely not in a hurry to get it asap. Time will tell...

I dont understand why there is so much negativity for the new DS. DSi is there for the DS owners who want to bring one more DS to the family (my lite will be going to my sister). Everyone that complain about gba slot already have at least one gba compatible device so i dont see what the problem is. If i want to play gba games I'll do it on the lite or the psp. Bdw 0.3mpx doesn't necessarily mean low quality (it depends on the type of the sensor). I wont be using it 'cos i have a 5mpx se. Anyway I'll definitely get it when it comes here and I think most of the people that now speak bad about it will get it too :D

There's not a single hands-on impression for it, so I don't know. By the time it hits the US, there will be plenty of information to help make a decision. I hope the DS Ware stuff will be great and that's what's likely to make it a buy for me.
I really don't see why people are making blanket assumptions about the DSi. We really don't know much about how any of its features are going to be used.

I'd like to get one, since it seems that a BG VC will be possible through it, as well as the camera acting as the/a next gimmick for WarioWare (of which I am (mostly) a whore, yes). Unfortunately, the lack of a GBA/expansion slot guarantees that it's not _everything_ the DS is able to be, so a lite will be on my mind, as well (which'd be a decent tide-over until DSi actually comes out here). Not gonna import, since what I'd particularly want it for (the downloadables) prolly wouldn't be supported here 'til it's launched domestically.
Now, here's the real question: Will the lite get a screen size boost sometime between now and after the DSi's boom? I'd feel really dumb to get a lite only to have a better one pop out.

Definitely not at first. Probably only if something happens, like my lite dies or a super awesome game comes out that uses the cameras that I just -have- to play.

Well,
There is a pretty good possibility. I may hand my current DS lite to my wife who has found herself enjoying it a lot. Then I'll grab the DSi. However, I really will miss the GBA slot since I never purchased an Advance. If I do get the DSi, it will depend--as others have pointed out--on how much they use the new technology in games. If not having one limits me from some great games, I'll probably pick it up. Let's not forget, though, the price isn't THAT small.
Peace,
manaman

Right now, I'm undecided. I will probably end up getting it, but probably not for a while after it releases in the US. I didn't get my DS until last Christmas. I'm too poor and I have other things I still want to buy, such another Wiimote & Nunchuk. I also need to see whether the new games will work only on the DSi, how well the browser works, and what kinds of things will be sold at the store.

I might if the price goes down. Right now, I find a Pandora is more worth my money.

No for me. My DS Lite was a gift from all my friends for my birthday a year ago and the DSi features don't appeal to me in the slightest.
Besides I barely play my DS as it is. I've found myself playing my PSP more. ^^;;

Nope.
I envy the SD slot, sure, but it isn't enough to warrant the purchase of an entirely new handheld.

If it supports WPA, then yeah, I'm getting it. (I won't downgrade my router to WEP, and I can't get Nintendo's WiFi USB connector working on my system, so at the moment I'm completely offline.)

The only DS I own at this point is the old phat. Having said that, I just might consider this one as I'd like to upgrade. The only thing that might keep me away is the price tag.
