York, PA - http://www.david-hinkle.com

David Hinkle first got his start in the gaming industry as a reviewer for a small time website in early 2004. After getting tired of little pay and the lack of recognition for his hard work, David sought employment elsewhere, eventually landing a job with Weblogs Inc. in March of 2005.

In October of 2006, David left his day job working for an Air Conditioning company in Florida to blog full-time. He is still trying to convince friends and family that he actually has a job and doesn't just sit around the house all day in his underwear.

Majesco reveals new DS game Hot 'N Cold

Majesco has revealed a new game for the DS in Hot 'N Cold. What's it all about? Well, it's basically a scavenger hunt, much like Mystery Case Files: Millionheir. You hunt down items in virtual environments, as evidenced by the screens in our gallery below. Unlike Mystery Case Files: Millionheir though, the game is fully 3D and will feature "large environments that break new ground in the hidden object genre by being fully 3D."

Check out some screens in our gallery below and look for this game to hit store shelves in "early 2009."

TGS08: First footage of The Another World [update]

Update: First images of the book and the package it all comes in have made their way online! Head past the break to catch a glimpse.

Level-5 and Studio Ghibli's upcoming DS RPG, Ni no Kuni: The Another World is sure to be a big success. Why? Uh, have you watched the video above yet? The game looks awesome. With the visual presence that Studio Ghibli provides with its great animation and wonderful character design, along with Level-5's RPG experience, this is going to be a game you want to keep your eyes on.

Know what else is cool? The game is going to come with a custom spellbook specific to that copy of the game. What's inside? Spells, of course (among other things, such as a bestiary)! You can see a bit of it in the video above, where the weird symbols are drawn. After the video, hit up this link to read the Level-5 president's interview with Famitsu about the game.

We already know you're going to pick a DSi up eventually (who can resist its awesome features?), but we would like to know if you still plan on snatching one up super early. So, will you?

DS Daily: Bummed about the GBA

Yesterday, we presented a feature that said goodbye to all of the great things the GBA slot can be used for on the DS Lite. As you all know, the new DSi says sayonara to the GBA slot. What we're wondering is, what will be the most missed aspect of that GBA slot for yourself? Will you miss not being able to play Guitar Hero: On Tour on your DSi? Are you sad to see your gigantic library of GBA games is not supported by the new device? What will you miss most about the GBA slot?

Team 17 boss wary of DSi features

When the DSi was unveiled, the DS Fanboy offices were filled with nothing but whooping and hollering, for Nintendo managed to actually improve on what we considered was the closest to perfection a handheld device could be. The DS Lite has great screens, is smaller than the Phat and has a huge library of great games. How could Nintendo even improve on that? Well, they did, with the DSi, but one individual sees the new handheld as an avenue for pirates to perform their dastardly deeds.

Team 17's studio director Martyn Brown has been eyeing up that SD slot as a potential source of piracy. "Adding an SD slot makes a bunch of sense for downloadable content given the way things are going," Brown said. "I just hope they've done something to counter the mass piracy that exists via the R4 on the Lite. It scares me that with an SD card input, that might leave it even wider open that it was on the original device." He brings up a valid point, but we guess we're just going to have to wait until Nintendo reveals more about the security features of the handheld.

Either way, we're sure the homebrew community will have a field day once it releases to Japan in November.

Get ready to import: DSi not to reach North America until 'well into 2009'

With the Japanese market seeing the release of Nintendo's new DSi handheld later on this year, what could be stopping Nintendo from bringing the device over to North America? Localizing all of the cool software that's available on the thing? Sure, that takes time, but not that much time. So, what is it? The incredible popularity of the DS Lite, says Reggie!

The DS Lite is on track to sell 22% more units than it did last year, says Reggie. Because of the incredible demand, we won't get the DSi until "well into calendar year 2009" Our suggestion? Get ready to import!

DS Daily: Sad to see the GBA slot go?

With all of the oooh-ing and ahhh-ing we've done at the recent announcement of the DSi, we are bummed about one thing: the GBA slot being no more. We like GBA games. They're cheap and fun! But, is it worth losing the GBA slot for all of the other goodies on offer? What do you think of the GBA slot going the way of the dodo bird?

Joystiq compares DSi to other handheld devices

In their desire to compare things meticulously, our tyrannical masters good friends at Joystiq have put together a handy chart that compares the new DSi to the iPhone, as well as the new PSP Brite that has yet to release. Want to know who's king of the hill? Head over and check it out!

Nintendo unveils pedometer for upcoming DS fitness title

Remember that weird pedometer trademark that came up recently? Well, instead of being something tied to a Wii game, as many thought, it's tied to a DS title instead. During the video presentation showing off upcoming DS titles, the image to the right was shown.

We're having a hard time translating the name, so we're just going to call it Lifestyle Rhythm DS for the moment. As you might have guessed, based on the image to the right, this is scheduled for a November release in Japan.

Hit up Nintendo's Japanese site for a closer look at the upcoming game.

[Thanks, Sonic_13!]

DQIX dated for March release in Japan

We're narrowing in on the release date for Square Enix's upcoming DS RPG, Dragon Quest IX. The company announced today that Japanese gamers can expect to get their hands on the game in March of next year. As for an exact date, they weren't willing to divulge that information at this time.

So who's dying to get their hands on this?

New Final Fantasy lets DS and Wii gamers play at the same time

Fans of Square Enix and their Final Fantasy line of games are in for a treat. The company revealed in the latest issue of Shonen Jump magazine that it's developing a new installment in its Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series of games. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time is a game that will release on the DS and Wii on January 29th. Also, it will allow DS gamers and Wii gamers to play together online. How neat is that?

Nothing in the way of exact functionality is explained, other than the prospect of transferring your Mii from the Wii version of the game to the DS title (and the previously mentioned co-op). We'll provide more information as it's made available.

Namco bundles DVD with National Geographic Panda

Namco Bandai just dished out a press release about upcoming National Geographic Panda. With the game hitting U.S. retail shelves this fall, the prospect of playing with virtual pandas on your DS is not the only enticing aspect panda fans should be focusing on. All copies of the game will come packaged with a DVD titled Secrets of the Wild Panda. What is Secrets of the Wild Panda? Well, it's an hour-long special produced by National Geographic on the subject of, you guessed it, panda bears. So instead of just being a DS game full of cute pandas to play with, it also holds some educational value, as well.
