Show and Tell: Beware -- tears of jealousy ahead

Some people just have it all, and reader sergioalb64 seems to be in that group. As soon as we saw his enormous DS collection, we knew we would have to feature it here. Does anyone need 100 DS games and 38 styli? No, probably not, but we bet it would be really nice to have. Though deciding what to play might take a while. Like, days.

Thanks for showing us, sergioalb64. We burn with jealousy. In fact, we are so jealous that we've made a gallery just for you, so we can return to your collection at will, drooling and dreaming over all the things we don't have.

Just remember, you too can be in this spot, with everyone cooing over your awesome game-related photos and swag. Just take some pictures and send them to showmeit at dsfanboy dot com, and we'll take care of the rest. We've gotten lots of great submissions so far, but we always want more! Big collections, small collections, random items, your beloved DS -- take some photos and send them to us, and your stuff just might turn up here.

Take that! Presenting official Phoenix Wright manga

Sometimes the Internet randomly drops some delightful content on our laps. Depending on our mood, we feel that either the forces of the Intertron love us and are giving us wonderful gifts, or that they're conspiring to keep us from working.

Case in point: we knew about Court Records and all of the good works they do for those of us afflicted with Gyakutendonitis. But until GoNintendo pointed it out, we hadn't realized that there were fan translations of official Gyakuten Saiban/Phoenix Wright manga available on the site right now. We'll, uh, try to keep posting while we read.

Let your fingers do the witch-touching

Who would have guessed that our little witch-hunting game, Doki Doki Majo Shinpan, would explode like this? Now it's a ridiculously blatant preorder bonus offered at selected retailers. What goes perfectly with adventure games about witches? That's right: phone cards. It was so obvious that we're surprised we didn't think of it ourselves.

We're starting to wonder if the witches are even bad witches -- they look kinda sweet (and top heavy) to us. Maybe the hero is hunting them to see who he should take to the beach. Got a "witch crest?" Great, grab your bikini and get in the van!

Tag'd: Nintendo graffiti hits the streets of Norway

If you ever find yourself in Oslo, Norway, during your travels, you might just run into a few familiar faces. That would be the faces of sprites from Nintendo mascots and other gaming characters alike, gracing trash cans and signs all about the town. And, upon looking at TheFunkyHorror's Flickr photo set, we wonder how much walking around the guy did to take all of these pictures.

Is it just us, or do some of those pictures look photochopped, though?

Mario is a music fan

We spent this last weekend rocking out at Bonnaroo down in the drought-ravaged state of Tennessee, and look who had a prime spot right between What stage and Which stage! Yep, it's our own overalled mascot. With his mushroom habit and hairy neck, Mario fit in nicely with a good portion of the crowd. Maybe he was responsible for the orange confetti that rained down during the Flaming Lips show on Saturday night. With the insane heat, there was sure to be a fire flower around there somewhere.

Blogging Zelda

As bloggers ourselves, we understand the incredible demand such a duty can take on a person. Heck, just covering all of the Nintendo news every day, let alone doing other things such as hosting Game Night, is enough to drive a person insane.

That's why we can hardly believe this man is set to extensively blog about his experiences in every Zelda game. He's even planning on blogging the latest title still due out on U.S. shores, Phantom Hourglass, and is currently making his way through Zelda II: The Adventures of Link at the moment. Odds are you've already beaten each title yourself (or, should have), but just in case you haven't, or you enjoy reading about someone else's perspective, this just might be a fun read for you.

'Backlit' DS Lite mod

The past few DS Lite mods we've featured didn't venture far beyond lodging LEDs into the handheld's face, so we're glad to have a twist to that formula for today. AcidMods forum administrator F00 f00 installed light-emitting diodes into the back of his portable. To emphasize its glow, he used what looks like Onyx Black casing and a clear replacement shell for the DS's frame.

How long will it be before we see a DS Lite kitted with ambient lighting? Staring into those bright screens while you're in the dark puts a lot of strain on your eyes, and there are times when turning on a light just isn't an option (e.g. like when you're hiding in a blanket because there are ghosts floating around your bed). Put on some sunglasses and check past the post break for more photos of F00 f00's mod.

Two lovely Nintendo crafts

These two crafts have the potential to change our lives. How so? In order to acquire and use them, we must learn how to knit, find a reason to start carrying a little handbag, and take more notes. We're not sure we're ready for such a drastic change, so we'll just look at them on the Internet and appreciate them!

The felted Mario bag has a tutorial, so if you can knit, we suggest you do so. The Zelda notepad was previously available for sale on Etsy, but is now sold out. Perler bead crafts are not so hard to do, however!

Short Cuts showcase finalist shows us the Nintendo offices

We've seen some entries in the Nintendo Short Cuts challenge and Nintendo has gotten their top ten favorites already picked (you can find them all, and vote, here). We have to give it to this group, though. When an employee is called into Bowser's office and must dodge all the flames and fireballs, we were cracking up.

Check out the entry past the post break.

'Dear Diary: Today I went to the wrong castle again.'

Every day, someone makes an adorable video game artifact to make his or her daily life slightly nerdier, out of nothing but love for the games. Meanwhile, all we do is hang around here and talk endlessly about Pokemans and pseudo-pornographic witch-touchery.

This Mario journal was made from the outer cover of a hardbound book, covered with corduroy. Each teensy felt pixel of the Mario sprite was then stitched on by hand. We considered trying this ourselves, but we remembered where all of our writing goes, and we don't want to make a cover big enough to fit over the Internet.

Headphones for the Poke-professional

So, you've got the T-shirts. You've got a couple of keychains. You even have your own replica Pokeball, where you imagine Pikachu is hanging out inside, kicking it on the couch sipping a cold one, ready to emerge and kick the crap out of any other Pokemon at a moment's notice.

You might want to see a doctor, because you're obsessed. Or, if you're perfectly fine with the addiction, check out these Japanese headphones, depicting several different Pokemon. They're the kind of headphones that scream "Go away, I'm trying to level up my Manaphy."

Doki Doki Majo Shinpan in-store advertising

By way of Senaka Blog, we're shown several different in-store advertisements for everyone's favorite upcoming grope-fest Doki Doki Majo Shinpan. The in-store advertisements, which feature a television running a trailer for the game and several posters showing ... well, you know what they're showing! We all know what they're showing.

Mario vs. Palkia in the arena of your imagination

NCSX never fails to encourage us to clutter our rooms and empty our wallets in the name of video game fandom. Today, they started taking preorders for some new Mario and Pokemon toys that we wouldn't mind having on our desks! So we can show them to people, obviously.

First are the above Dialga and Palkia soft vinyl figures, which allow you to reenact the boxarts of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. In fact, if you buy these, you can't help but reenact them, because the boxes just feature these characters standing alone. Also available for preorder are two Mario toy lines: a vinyl figure of Mario in either his normal outfit or his Fire Mario finery, and a set of plush toys that make some kind of jingling sound. All of these cost between $20 and $25 and will ship toward the end of the year.

Pokemon defeats fear of flying, gains 20 EXP

Today's Pokémon content is a sweet story of how GayGamer's Pirate Prince came to understand the appeal of the series while in desperate need of a distraction. During a long flight, he decided to play some Pearl, despite not having been much of a fan previously.

It turns out that the game was an excellent distraction. In a situation where he was forced to choose between catching them all and paying attention to his claustrophobia and fear of flight, he was able to delve into the game and discover its merit.

We aren't especially scared of flying, which is a surprise considering all of the things we are afraid of, we also took a plane ride this weekend, also accompanied by our Pokemans. It really is nice to have collecting and leveling to obsess about instead of the stress of being on an airplane and the stress of travel in general.

Etrian Odyssey the figurine

As gamers, we often like to surround ourselves with figurines and posters of the games and characters we love. Well, if you love yourself some Etrian Odyssey, then Hobby Wave has you covered. That is, if you don't mind importing it from Japan and waiting until September. The figure will set you back 3,990 Yen (or about $33 USD).
