DS Fanboy community project: Muxtape
This may be a little off the beaten path, but we here at DS Fanboy stumbled across the DIY-online-mixtape site, muxtape, recently, and we've had a lot of fun putting together and sharing our creations. So much fun, in fact, that we decided to try to bring everyone in on it. By everyone, we mean you, our beloved readers. Boxart battle: Emblem of Gundam vs Front Mission 2089
Above, we have the covers for two upcoming strategy titles, Emblem of Gundam and Front Mission 2089. Both series have similar themes -- giant mechas battling it out against an intricate backdrop of political drama -- so it's startling to see the different approaches in their packaging designs.
Front Mission 2089 puts more emphasis on its character lineup, masking a lone Wanzer in the mist, and the result is a lusterless jacket that looks as unexciting as the starring crew's listless expressions. Emblem of Gundam's cover has more action to it, giving its mobile suits and story characters even billing. One guy is flying through space with a rapier! Another has a gun! And a massive Gundam oversees the entire scene, jets blasting and fingers positioned like a master pianist preparing his next attack. This is how you design a box!
Today's lesson: If you have huge robots, use them. Pilot your mecha past the post break for a better look at the two covers.

Space Invaders invade your fridge
Since we're almost gnawing off our own fingers in anticipation for Space Invaders Extreme to mosey on over to North America, we could see ourselves sitting in front of the fridge until the early hours of the A.M., moving the magnets around to simulate playing the game.
Fortunately for us and our dignity, we haven't found a place to import these magnets from yet, although they'll be available in Japan by April 22nd.

It's dangerous to chop vegetables on an unprotected surface alone! Take this!
We'll be honest -- as charming as it was, we found ourselves struggling to understand how the Zelda universe was an appropriate choice of subject for a themed, crochet teapot mat. Eventually, we concluded that, hey, Link does occasionally drink potions in his games, right? And you can also drink ... what? Yes! Tea! Ahem.
Anyway, this Triforce-branded cutting board from Etsy user 1337motif ... we're stumped. Totally at a loss. There's just no reasonable connection between Zelda games and cutting boards. Then again, we're yet to find a more awesome way to chop vegetables, so we'll roll with it. Cough up $125 (yes) and it's yours.

Away: Shuffle Memory
For the first two levels, it's straightforward enough: you have 60 (and then 50) seconds to find all nine pairs, just like any other Memory game. In the third level, all the cards are blank but three: one pair to match, and one card that resets the locations of those two cards. Oh, and the rows of cards are constantly moving around. At the end, you're awarded with a desktop wallpaper. Have fun! Or just download the wallpaper here (1024x768, 1280x1024).

Playing your homemade DS can be fun, too
It's too bad that creating a DS out of paper wouldn't really work like this -- then we'd all have a lot more money in our pockets. Our hats definitely go off to you tuber and deviant artist Zikayn, though, for making this awesome video. While we've seen similar stuff before, we haven't seen anything with as much polish as this. We can't be sure how long these kind of animations take to create, having no artistic bones to speak of, but we imagine that it wasn't just a quick endeavor.

Line Rider creator speaks
While we all sit on our hands, waiting for the DS and Wii version of Line Rider, the game's creator, Bostjan Cadez took time out of making it to conduct a nice interview with GameSetWatch. In it, Cadez talks about spitballing names for the little line-riding dude himself, as well as touching on inXile and how they're handling the development of the Wii and DS game.Now that we finally got to see some screens and video of the game last month, you can say all of the pieces are in place. We have a release date and Line Rider is looking like it won't disappoint.
