Going Gold

Launched in 1981, the three titles in the Game & Watch Gold series were ostensibly no different from their Silver series predecessors, save for their gold fascias and extra on-screen color. Nevertheless, the phenomenon was now picking up pace, and 1981 marked the start of a golden age (pun not intended) for Game & Watch; 33 of the 60 models would be produced during 1981, 1982, and 1983.
