The first game in the Bangai-O series was only available in Japan, and only in limited quantities. A free-scrolling shooter involving tiny sprites in big, enemy-filled levels, Bangai-O introduces much of the gameplay found in the DS game -- switching on the fly between homing and reflecting weapons, holding a button to charge up scatter bombs, and collecting fruit. It was originally planned as a remake of the Japanese PC88 title Hover Attack.
