WRUP: Vision improvement edition

Of this week's releases, Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day ranked as the title we were most interested in. While we have reported on the game for quite some time now, we couldn't really form judgment until we had it in our hands and we plan on doing just that this weekend.

But, who cares about us? What about you, fine reader? What do you plan on playing this weekend? New game or do you have another title you've been chipping away at?

Focus on Nintendo at PAX

Nintendo's list of playable Wii games at this year's Penny Arcade Expo may be somewhat lacking-- Fire Emblem and stuff that's already out-- but there's enough of interest on the DS to keep us occupied. We're very excited that the new Zelda game will be on display, as it's been getting some extremely positive reactions. We also look forward to some exposure to the exiled Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol, as well as the sequel to DK King of Swing. But for us, the real draw is Flash Focus. Because we're weird and we tend to go for the weird experiences! The first-party DS games playable at PAX include:
  • The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
  • Brain Age 2
  • Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol
  • DK Jungle Climber
  • Flash Focus
We're hoping the third-party DS games include the following:
  • Contra 4
  • Contra 4
  • Contra 4
  • Contra 4
  • Barnyard Blast
We'll be at PAX this weekend, doing our best to keep our social anxiety under control, having panic attacks, and maybe playing some games or something.

DS Daily: Your E3 winner

We didn't see much in the keynote, but plenty of delicious DS content appeared over the course of E3: Brain Age 2, Flash Focus, Professor Layton, Advance Wars 2, Contra 4-- the list goes on and on. It all looks nice! But us being gamers, and this being the Internet, we aren't comfortable with anything unless it's categorized according to arbitrary value judgments.

For that, we turn to you. Which game of the pack was the winner, in your mind? And, if it wasn't Contra 4, why not?

Nintendo flashes us with Vision Training

Halfway through its E3 2007 media briefing today, Nintendo announced that it will expanding its line of casual titles in the US with Strengthen Your Visual Power through Practice: Vision Training (Miru Chikara wo Jissen de Kitearu: DS Ganriki Training), retitling the game as Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day.

If neither of the titles suitably sum up the game for you, it is a collection of exercises and minigames that test you on field of vision and eye-hand coordination, using the results to determine the age of your eyes. Shift your eyes past the post break for some video impressions of the Japanese demo from CAG's CheapyD!
