Nintendo-themed cases bring style to your DS

If you're still searching for the perfect case for your DS Lite, you might want to check out these handmade options by eBay's munkybaby05. Made with yarn, felt, and plastic canvas, these cases are adorably geeky, and according to the seller, will fit snugly on any DS Lite.

There's two Metroid options, including the one pictured above and a Samus vs. metroid case. If you prefer the Legend of Zelda as your game of choice, though, she also has a case featuring Link and another with a sparkly Triforce.

The cutest of all, though, are the Mario-themed cart cases, which are shaped like little boxes and can hold about nine or ten games. The game holders are available in red mushroom, green mushroom, or question block designs.

Currently they're not too expensive for handmade items ($18 including shipping and handling for the DS Lite cases, $11 for the game cases), but of course, you never know with eBay.

Against all odds, Samus cosplay looks surprisingly good

In recent times, we've shone the Fanboy spotlight on cosplay experiments that have ranged from adorable to slightly surreal. This Samus number effortlessly trumps the lot, however.

For starters, it's Samus. Samus cosplay is not a walk in the park, kids. We can only begin to imagine the sheer frustration involved in accurately recreating the Power Suit, with all of its peculiar angles and ridges (not to mention those awkward shoulder spheres). Which makes this effort, featuring Swedish student Jenni Källberg, all the more admirable.

More pictures after the jump.

Samus figurines drop jaws

Alex Davis over at First 4 Figurines recently wrote in to tell us that work on the first Samus figurines is nearly completed. In hopping over to his company's site to check out the figures, we were shocked to see just how amazing they looked. Featuring Samus in two distinct flavors (Gravity and Varia), these collectible statues are the type of decoration that proudly proclaims you prefer your women in ancient Chozo battle suits and sporting an arm cannon full of weaponry. Don't be ashamed, we prefer our women that way too.

More pictures of the figurines are embedded into the post after the break.

First Metroid Prime Hunters statue revealed

The kind gentleman of First 4 Figures dropped us a line, along with our superiors, letting us know that they have finally revealed the first in their long line of proposed collectible statues from the Metroid universe. Oddly enough, however, is that the debut collectible is not for everyone's favorite bounty huntress hunter Samus. No, instead we get Kanden.

The figures is looking sharp, even if it is not the finalized product. However, I've always felt you should always put your best foot forward, which would apply to First 4 Figures' debut collectible being one of the Samus variations. Featuring an interconnecting base that will allow Kanden to connect with other upcoming hunters, we're sure his first opponent will be none other than the blonde bombshell herself.

First 4 Figures making Metroid statues

Are you the kind of person who likes to purchase figurines of popular characters in some of gamings most highly-regarded franchises? Well, this post is for you! First 4 Figures recently acquired a three-year license to create statued representations of some of the more popular characters in the Metroid universe, namely from the Metroid Prime series of games. The statues will be "approximately 9 to 12 inches tall and will retail for $85 to $120 for single statues and $200 for high end VS dioramas." The breakdown on which statues are planned to be available at the time of this post is as follows:

Metroid Prime
Varia Suit

Metroid Prime 2
Light Suit
Dark Suit

Metroid Prime: Hunters
Samus
Kanden
Sylux
Noxus
Spire
Weavel
Trace

March NPD Sales Chart reveals rampant heroine addiction

Though it's devoid of the actual numbers we know and love, the NPD group has released a list of the top 20 best-selling US games for the merry month of March. The list isn't terribly exciting, but it does reveal a shocking and unspeakable truth about Nintendo gamers. They've been purchasing copies of Metroid Prime: Hunters and Super Princess Peach, playing the games in grimy alleys, their depraved faces lit up only by the flicker of two LCD screens. All that for a shameful heroine fix.

  1.     Kingdom Hearts II (PS2)
  2.     Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (360)
  3.     Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360)
  4.     Black (PS2)

Hunter's License on Google personal page

Following our coverage of proudly displaying your MPH Hunter's License, a reader writes us to tell of how to include all that desirable information into your personalized Google homepage. Clicking the link will add Hunter Sakurina's license for display, yet should you click the edit button directly above the presented License and input the GSPID of the Hunter you wish displayed (which can again be found here), you can add anyone you wish. Also, this isn't limited to just one Hunter either as you can pretty much add as many as you'd like.

Displaying your Hunter's License

A faithful reader writes us to tell of the process of embedding your Hunter's License information on your personal webspace, much like those with a Gamertag on the Xbo360 have been able to do since the console launched in November. Scrolling down after the jump will display proof of such as you'll be able to see Shorties' Hunter's License displayed. You'll first want to gain your GSPID, which can be easily accomplished by going through the brisk tutorial found here.

[Thanks Shorties!]

Metroid Prime Hunters video preview

G4TV has a video preview of the upcoming Metroid Prime Hunters, showcasing some of the other bounty hunters in the game, along with revealing a certain boss that Samus engages during her travels. While it's light on the content in regards to what's actually in the game (GASP!), all of the juicy multiplayer footage and cinematics should be enough to motivate you to head on over and check out the video.

It's almost here; who else is preparing to slam on some chumps? Which bounty hunter are you most looking forward to try?

[Thanks dragonjoe!]
