Samurai Deep Discount Kyo

Remember Samurai Deeper Kyo, that anime-based game released with the Samurai Deeper Kyo DVD set earlier this year? It's a rare cart due to its limited availability with the expensive "Complete Series" collection, and it has the added allure of also providing a solid action experience, despite having been originally released in Japan back in 2002.

Well, those of you who saw the DVD set's exorbitant mark up and resigned yourself to never owning this gem might want to reconsider with Best Buy's sale price: $29.99. While that might seem like a lot to pay for a GBA game these days, that's less than half of its usual list price of $79.99! Plus, you'll also get a heap of episodes from an anime which may or may not be worth watching!

Race Driver: Create and Race (and buy for ten bucks)

How did Race Driver: Create and Race end up in Best Buy's bargain bin? The Codemasters-developed title received favorable reviews, and, by most accounts, it doesn't deserve to share the same shameful shelf as Julie Finds a Way and Original Frisbee Disc Sports.

As you can see in the above trailer, it doesn't look terrible at all! In addition to its robust track designer, Race Driver's multiplayer features include online matches and single-cart download play for up to four people. Best Buy's uninformed markdown means savings for you, however, as you can now purchase the game for only $9.99 from the retailer's online store. Of course, you'll still have to pay for shipping, but you can skip that by finding Race Driver at a brick and mortar location.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Deals and Dropped Prices

We'd be hard-pressed to present a better deal on a DS game than the newly price-dropped Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations. Except for, you know, those deals on the previous games. But those don't really supercede this deal, because you really need the whole series. Seriously, if you can read (which you can, we are absolutely certain), you should pick up Capcom's hilarious series of visual-novel style adventure games.

The new $20 price point for Trials and Tribulations seems to be a universal price drop, reflected at Best Buy and GameStop so far. Amazon even has the game for an ultra-low $19.79, saving you twenty crucial cents.

Best Buy does 2 for $30 deal

Best Buy is having a sale on all of their video games priced at $19.99, allowing those looking to stock up on titles to snag two games for the sum of $30. And, looking over the list of titles that qualify, there's quite a bit of fun to be had.

Notable games in the sale include Nintendo's training titles Brain Age, Brain Age 2 and Flash Focus. There are also other games like WordJong, SimCity DS, Spectrobes and Orcs & Elves up for grabs too.

Best Buy offering $10 gift cards with purchase of DS Lite

If you're in the market for a DS Lite to bestow upon a good friend this holiday season (or, maybe you're anticipating gift money and want to finally get one yourself or upgrade), then Best Buy might be the place you want to hit up. They're offering a $10 gift card with the purchase of any DS Lite system. Nice.

Only problem is that their website shows all of the DS Lite units sold out online. That's not a huge problem, however. If you head in-store, you can get the same offer (we called our local store to confirm), so if you find one sitting on the shelf (odds are against you right now, we're afraid), then you're in luck. Other problem: the offer expires in three days, on the 20th.

Best Buy offering $5 gift cards with kid-friendly games

Likely positioning this deal as an incentive for Christmas shoppers to purchase family-oriented titles for younger gamers, Best Buy is throwing in a $5.00 gift card with every video game purchase from its selection of E (Everyone) and E10+ (Everyone 10+) ESRB-rated offerings. Here's a list of the electronic retailer's DS games currently on that list:
  • Ben 10: Protector of Earth - $29.99
  • Cars (GBA) - $19.99
  • Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker - $29.99
  • Drawn to Life - $29.99
  • Jam Sessions - $19.99
  • Looney Tunes: Duck Amuck - $29.99
  • Ratatouille: Food Frenzy - $29.99
Aside from Jam Sessions, these aren't really great bargains, but if you were planning on eventually buying one of these games anyway, why not do it now and pick up a free gift card with your order?

Drawn to $10 Savings

If you've been considering picking up 5th Cell's great Drawn to Life, you might want to think about grabbing one from Best Buy. It's on sale right now for $19.99, as reported in their weekly circular. That's a great price for an original 2D platformer! Although if you weren't planning on buying it, your expenditures for the next few months have probably been very carefully planned out.

Also of interest: they've got Spectrobes for $14.99. If you're in a more Disney/ Pokemon/ whatever-else-Spectrobes-is mood.

Konami codes and secret messages in Jam Sessions

If you're one of those completists who felt Best Buy's blue fist closing around your wallet when Ubisoft announced exclusive songs for people who purchased Jam Sessions through the electronics retail giant, allay your fears!

It turns out that all you need to do to unlock the three bonus songs is enter a shortened version of the Konami code while in Free mode: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, and Right. Those of you who've set the game up with left-handed controls should be able to enter the sequence with the ABXY buttons: X, X, B, B, Y, A, Y, and A.

The three extra tracks, in case you've forgotten, are the following:
  • Brad Paisley - "I'm Gonna Miss Her"
  • Jimi Hendrix - "Wild Thing"
  • Tom Petty - "Needles and Pins"
Speaking of hidden stuff, the murmur amongst murmuring folks seems to be an eerie message in Jam Sessions when you hit the A6 chord and hold it out. After a few seconds, you can hear what sounds like someone whispering, "Don't kill us." Other interpretations of the barely audible voice include "Forgive us" and "Oh god, this is sooooo creepy. What the hell, guys. What. The hell. Seriously ya'll, quit messin' around, this ain't a game. Let's get out of here and eat pizza rolls at my place."

Check past the post break for video and audio proof of the spine-tingling whisper. We guarantee that your spine will be tingled!

MASSIVE clearance at Best Buy starts today

If you're near a Best Buy store, gather up your $2 bills and get going, because they're in the midst of an epic videogame clearance, and you'll want to get there before the unscrupulous speculator types grab all the stuff to sacrifice to the ravenous eBay. You've got to be wily to get to the goods before the FatWalleters and the CAGs!

We've got a list of all the DS and GBA software on sale after the jump. Don't expect to find all of it-- most of it has been out of stock for months or years at most stores, and the price changed to clear out remaining copies. But we hope you do find what you're looking for in abundance. We wish we could go tomorrow and check it out ourselves. By the time we get there, there won't be anything but cobwebs and tumbleweeds, and those will probably be regular price.

[Thanks, ali emamdjomeh!]
