It's been a while since we've seen a Mega Man game akin to the ones of the days of yore, but now, yore comes in scarf form.
Beatboxtaun, the same craftster behind the Punch-Out! scarf, has gone and designed some winter gear based on Mega Man 2 (a game which, incidentally, has one of ourfavorite video game soundtracks). It might be getting a little too warm for scarves, since spring is just around the corner, but we're sure your nostalgia can keep you cold enough to don this beauty.
What's nice about this scarf is that it not only features the Blue Bomber himself, but also the villains of the game. Now, all she has to do is make a Mega Man 3 scarf that includes Proto Man, and we'd be super happy.
This neck mitten certainly isn't cheap, as it will cost you $150 on Etsy -- but until we get a classic Mega Man game on the DS, this is probably the next best thing. For now, though, we guess we'll have to settle for Mega Man Star Force and the like.
Another picture of the scarf is posted after the break, if you want to see the rest of the villains included.
Apparently known as a "munny figure," (we're just so out of touch with all things non-gaming it hurts sometimes) we find these pieces of art to be incredibly ... well, uh incredible. They're very stylish and feature what we love most: Nintendo mascots.
Also, you can get an eye full of a nice figure painted to resemble a scene from Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Overall, we're just finding it hard to voice how amazing these figures are. Check them out in the gallery below.

As our ever-expanding waistlines will testify, the fridge is easily one of our favorite places in the house. Hence, Etsy user Pixelation has seemingly achieved the impossible through these charming acrylics-on-canvas magnets: a way of making the fridge even more awesome. However, we're going to stop ourselves from buying these for two reasons:
At $15 - $18, they're a bit out of our price range for magnets.
As if ingesting sugary treats or squirting whipped cream into our gaping maws wasn't already tempting enough, these would just encourage more fridge visits. That's not what we need.
Well, it's not as bad as it sounds. In fact, these Nintendo-themed Valentine cards from 4 Color Rebellion epitomize the kind of charmingquirkiness that makes game-related art great. 4cr's Mitch Donaberger created these cards to express the complex feelings of the lovestruck Nintendo fan. For example, the card above is probably the most eloquent way to tell someone that not only are they great, they are great much in the same way that the wonderful DS Lite is.
The cards come in both web-friendly and printable resolutions, so you can choo-choo-choose to send one to a loved one either as an e-card or as a regular-style card. Now you're playing with ... other people's emotions!
Sadly, after this week, Show and Tell is going to take a little break for a while. Please keep sending us your stuff -- we'll get to it eventually! -- but since your gracious hostess is about to have a baby, we're going to put this little spotlight on hiatus (but not for long -- promise!).
We're not going out without a bang, however! To give Show and Tell a nice send-off, we asked some of the folks around the Joystiq network, as well as the DS Fanboy staff, to share their stuff ... specifically, their DS units and cases. We learned a few things along the way, such as the fact that the crimson & black DS Lite took over around here (half of us picked one up) and also, that we have a lot of pets.
Remember, you can always send us pictures of your cases, or anything else you want to show off! Just because this feature's going on hiatus for a few weeks doesn't mean we're not interested in showing off whatever you've got, so long as it has a little Nintendo flavor. Just take some pictures (or copy your web album links) and send them to showmeit [at] dsfanboy [dot] com. We'll take care of the rest.
We actually don't know if this cute Zelda crochet block would be a suitable insulator for teapots (and also we're fairly in the dark about the scale of the thing), but it certainly looks the part. Maybe you can set your DS down on it, to keep it safe from that hard old table. Or you can just make it, and look at it to remember the good times you had 1) playing Zelda games, and then 2) making this crochet block.
There's a diagram available for this extremely cute project at the link (not the Link, but the ... you know), to facilitate your own nerd craftery.
Of all the characters in Animal Crossing Wild World, we always felt closest to guitar-wielding dog and Roost regular K. K. Slider. It could be his tuneful, oddly wistful singing voice, or even his social awareness, but we know one thing: we now look forward to each and every Saturday night, when K.K. comes to town to entertain us, his adoring fans.
Now we can pay tribute with our heads, thanks to this fine K.K. Slider hat, which has been lovingly crafted by Etsy user Penguinotic from white fleece and felt. The $20 price tag means that it will cost you about $20 more than K.K.'s music, but we think there's just enough of the northern winter left to justify this.
Any knitters out there in DS Fanboy land? We've seen a few in the comments from time to time, so we've got something for you: patterns for mushroom toys! Now you can make your own mushrooms for extra lives or embiggening (that look a little like stuffed socks), and hug them and squeeze them for hours on end. We do not, however, recommend that you eat them.
This blogger, sadly, cannot knit, and not for lack of trying. After a single row, it all becomes very alien. Maybe it's time for Knitting Training or something ....

Over on eBay, the pictured (it's a badly-lit photo, the seller admits) GBA SP is up for grabs over the span of little less than three days. It has an etch of the design on Link's shield on the top portion of the clamshell, allowing any Link-lover in Canada to toss their coin in for the opportunity. We must admit, though, the thing could've used a nice forest green paint job before doing the etching, or perhaps a custom color scheme more fitting to the Hylian Shield. Currently, the bid resides at thirty Canadian dollars.
Any of you think the custom unit is worth your hard-earned money? What about your easily-earned money?
We love Kirby. We can't help it; he's just a big ol' pink puffball full of love (and often, whatever is around). We're usually not in favor of beating on Kirby, but when it's for a good cause, we can get behind the idea. Also? When beating on Kirby can give us delicious candy.
Reader Mr Khan sent us in these pictures of the Kirby piñata he and some others made over the holidays for a few lucky second graders. Their assignment (which they clearly chose to accept) was to design a piñata around a balloon. What's round and full of fun? The only obvious answer was Kirby. We approve.
Remember, if you have something to show off, we're interested! From crafts to cakes to collections ... whatever you've got, if it has a little Nintendo flavor, we want to see it. Just take some pictures (or copy your web album links) and send them to showmeit [at] dsfanboy [dot] com. We'll take care of the rest.
There's no better fandom than the edible kind; after all, it provides fun and nourishment. That's why these DIY cookie cutters caught our eye. Not only can you press 1-up cookies on your friends, but you can offer them a sweet treat at the same time, and all it takes is a little sheet metal and spare time. Oh, and tools, but all worthwhile creations require tools, and a steady hand with which to wield them. As gamers, you should be equipped with that already!
Every time we're convinced that we're the ultimate DS fans (we're DS Fanboy, after all), someone comes along to show us up. This time it's reader Eric, who put together such a collection of DS-centric media that he had to build a special set of shelves just to hold it all. We're in awe, frankly, and a little jealous we didn't think of it first.
So what's in Eric's special DS center? Walkthroughs for games compiled over the years (see: binders), the DSLife podcast (burned to CD for posterity), oh, and hey, games. Those are important!
Got something you want to show off to all the other DS fans? We like just about anything with a little Nintendo flavor, so snap a few pics and send 'em off to tell us what's up, and send it all to showmeit [at] dsfanboy [dot] com. We'll take care of the rest.
As part of a bento challenge, Livejournal, uh, "bentochallenge" community member mushmo made this awesome rice representation of a pink DS. Technically, it's a Phat, but we couldn't resist the pun in the title.
The DS onigiri folds up to fit in its bento box, and is joined by shrimp, broccoli, carrots, and a hard-boiled egg to make a delicious meal for mushmo's lucky son. Honestly, we don't know if we'd be able to eat such a meticulously craftedfood item. We'd feel guilty for ruining all that work, and we'd just go raid the fridge for some food that isn't shaped like stuff.
No, not a dreidel*, but instead, a 1-up keychain! Reader Mathias sent this one in for us to show off, and it was so cute that we couldn't resist. Someone should make us a friendly keychain, since our fingers are far too slow and stupid for modeling (of any sort). And we can't help but wonder ... if you carry one of these around at all times, does it make you invincible? No? Damn, that would have been awesome.
Got something you want to show off to all the other DS fans? We like just about anything with a little Nintendo flavor, so snap a few pics and send 'em off to tell us what's up, and send it all to showmeit [at] dsfanboy [dot] com. We'll take care of the rest.
*Note: links to South Park anything are potentially NSFW!
Normally, wearing fingerless glove things would make us feel totally tough, like Ryu or something. But with these gloves, the feeling of toughness is short-circuited by the fact that they're crocheted and have mushrooms on them. Being fans of Street Fighter, Mario, and cognitive dissonance, we enjoy the combination.
Craftster forum member mynta made these comfy arm-warmy things (called, logically enough, halfgloves) based on another Craftster's knit version, which are also quite the cute little craft. They add further proof to the idea that if you can wear something, it's fair game to be tied in to video games.
