How would you rank the weapons of Zelda?

No, not the princess's actual weapons, but the weapons from the Zelda games. For us, the most badass thing that ever was made has to be the Titan's Mitt. That thing could help Link pick up the most heaviest of heavy items. We'll also entertain notions that the Hook Shot, Pegasus Shoes and Magic Cape are up high on the list.

But, what about the items that aren't specific to any entry in the series, like the boomerang? Well, Lore from Wired attempts to rank these items, providing grade marks to all of Link's most-used weapons and otherwise general helper-outers. Is the man insane? Well, we'll leave that judgment up to you and get back to what we enjoy most: daydreaming that we have a Titan's Mitt of our own.

You, on the other hand, can rank your top 5 favorite Zelda items in the comments. No daydreaming for you all, there's work to be done!

More like Professor LOLton

Oh, how we adore you, Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Not only are you one of the most distinguished DS games of the year so far, but you're also proving a rich source of inspiration for webcomic artists everywhere.

Penny Arcade's take on the Professor's adventure set our ROFLcopter in motion the other day, and our giggling continued after seeing 2P Start's answer to the biggest puzzle of all. Hit the break for the full (totally-safe-for-work) comic!

DS Daily: LOL!

Being the jovial types that we are, there's nothing we enjoy more than a good, hearty belly laugh, and sometimes we struggle to contain our mirth while getting our DS on.

WarioWare: Touched! was perhaps the first title to really make us laugh out loud, and more recently Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan and the Ace Attorney games have coaxed a titter or two from us. It's also worth noting that Kaboom Kaboom and Insecticide both look like they could contain a good few chuckles.

We can't be alone in this respect, so which DS games crack you up?

'Personal Transport Dinosaur' doesn't do traffic jams

Who could have possibly called this one? While many have spent the last decade or two fretting over the environmental impact of carbon emissions from cars, the real answer to our transport/pollution woes were to be found in a 1990 videogame all along!

The fact that the solution also consumes and then rapidly converts our foes into eggs ... well damn, that's just the icing on the sweetest of cakes.

DS Daily: Jump on the hype train

It's no secret that certain games excite us (why hello there, Contra 4), and sometimes our tastes are a little off-the-wall. We can't help it; we're suckers for anything with an extra dash of humor, and that's why we're all over Barnyard Blast like flies on ... well ... let's say piles of manure. And you know what? If IGN's Matt Casamassina can conduct a hype train, so can we. This is it. We're kicking off the official Barnyard Blast hype train. Maybe it doesn't have pirates, but it does have monster-slaying pigs in a Castlevania send-up that sounds absolutely hilarious -- and really, what more do we need?

Plus, y'know, our own Eric Caoili named it. That makes it extra awesome.

Dementium, with tongue firmly in cheek

If we weren't already interested in Dementium: The Ward, we certainly would be after this latest trailer. What it lacks in gameplay footage, it makes up in humor, and poking fun at ambulance-chasing lawyers never gets old ... particularly when they happen to sport an amusing moniker (like this fellow),

The trailer itself is amusingly bad, like watching a low-budget film that is fully self aware and uses its cheapness to its advantage. We particularly liked the obnoxious, excessive gore, especially when "blood" looks as though it's being sprayed from a squeezy bottle of Hershey's syrup. Well played, Renegade Kid and Gamecock. Well played indeed. See it for yourself after the break, but beware -- mixed in among the funny, there are some squicky moments.

Friday Video: Battle Tetris

This video was just too funny to resist; when it turned up on Boing Boing, we knew we would have to borrow it for this week's video spotlight. What happens when two guys (we assume) dressed as Tetris pieces decide to get into it? See for yourself after the break. Frankly, we think Mr. Blue Piece cheated through the power of his extra block.

We should also warn you, there's a little swearing in the beginning, but what else can you expect from Battle Tetris?

Who can object to a boot to the head?

This little riff on Phoenix Wright may not be new -- perhaps you've seen it around -- but the moment it showed up in the office e-mail, we knew we just had to share it with you. First, our love for the ace attorney is vast and unending ... but second, and perhaps even more importantly in this instance, the "Boot to the Head" sketch by Canadian troupe The Frantics holds a special place in our childhood memories. So a mixture of the two? Pure comedic heaven.

You wanna watch it? You have two options -- you can check it out after the break, via YouTube, or you can go here to watch a Flash version with subtitles. Your choice, and both paths lead to awesome. You can't lose.

DS Daily: Training -- what's left?

Alright, we get it. DS developers obviously think we can't do anything on our own. Let's just look at a few of the training titles for various regions so far: walking, brain, vision, yoga, gardening, spelling, reading, language, face ... geez, what's left? Someday -- and that day may be soon -- developers are going to end up putting really mundane things into trainers (as though walking wasn't mundane enough). We can only assume that next on the list is something like Button Training: Learn How to Dress Yourself in Minutes a Day! Well, as there are more of you than there are us, we're certain you can come up with even more ridiculous training games. And just think ... as silly as some may be, they just may end up on shelves, and they'll probably be awesome. Hygiene Training, here we come!

Wait, that one may actually be useful for some people out there ....

Conjecture Countdown: 2 days to go

Even with a diminished E3, there's no controlling the wave of rumors that hit the Internet every year before the show. Why fight it? From now until E3 hits, we'll be posting one piece of wild speculation every day. Some may be patently ridiculous, and others just might turn out to be true. Even some of the ridiculous ones might turn out to be true! Rest assured, everything will be totally made-up and unfounded. Except, of course, when we speak about all the ass Reggie is going to kick. That part? Totally true.

Rumor: With all the worthwhile (and many worthless) licenses already snatched up, videogame publishers are forced to scrape the bottom of the barrel for this year's holiday releases: Alexis de Tocqueville's Democracy in America and Rapcat.

Rumor: Hoping to get in on the non-game bonanza, a small Japanese developer will reveal their new brain training game. However, it'll just be a hasty reworking of the shooter they were working on, with a quiz at the end of every level asking you how many shots were fired.
