There are a lot of games out this week. In fact, it makes other heavy weeks look absolutely empty, and yet, this blogger only has eyes for one game. In the shadow of Castlevania, there is so little room for anything else. Luckily, even with such a big list, there aren't a lot of contenders even trying for the spotlight.
Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?: Make the Grade
An official website for Exit DS in Europe just launched, and its first order of business was to announce that the game is on its way to the region. When can fine European individuals such as yourself expect to get your hands on the game? This month!
A release day hasn't been finalized yet, so we're not sure as to when this month the game will release. Seeing as how this month is half over, at least you won't have to wait that long.
You may not be terribly excited about some of this week's releases, but it's safe to say we can all agree on one thing: there's a lot of them! My Japanese Coach may actually hit this week, as well as Korg DS-10. What'll you be buying?
An interesting week for releases around the globe, though the news will, of course, be dwarfed in the wake of all things DSi. Among this week's noteworthy titles are Prey the Stars (at last!), and Korg DS-10 for Europe.
While it's nothing like last week's amazing array of releases, there's a lot for DS owners to be excited about when it comes to the new releases. Not only is the long-awaited Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood finally set to debut in the U.S., but there are some other jewels out this week, as well. Here in the States, we've got Princess Debut and Unsolved Crimes, and Europe finally sees the release of Prey the Stars. We're jealous.
Not only are there dozens -- well, almost two dozen -- games slated for release in the U.S. this week, but included in the list are a few particularly interesting titles. Kirby Super Star Ultra, though announced some time ago, comes seemingly out of nowhere after some recent wacky promotions, and My Japanese Coach finally makes it to shelves (we hope).
This week, a pile of games are overwhelming DS shelves, but the real star is Jackass: The Game. Oh yes, Europe. It's your turn. Don't even try and say that we never gave you anything, because after this week, it's patently untrue.
There's just one thing to say about this week's lineup of DS releases: wow. Spore Creatures and a host of games to suit any taste here in the States, and internationally, you've got Dragon Quest IV and then Pokémon Platinum in Japan. This could be one of those legendary weeks that threatens to empty (and then devour) your wallet ... and to think, we've not even entered the holiday season yet.
During an end-of-quarter conference call yesterday, Take-Two Interactive will be releasing GTA: Chinatown Wars this winter. That's a release window of November to January 31, 2009, according to Take-Two's fiscal year. One individual from the press asked if the game would release before Christmas, but Take-Two was quick to comment that they "didn't say that," further adding that they're "not confirming that."
So, with some hints at Wi-Fi play and a release window, we're starting to get a better idea of what to expect from the title. Next up, let's see some game footage!
It's a day off for many of us in the U.S., and for others, a day to be spent fleeing the force of a storm. Here's hoping that thousands of DS units (and their wonderful owners) are on their way to safety. If you're on your way to pick up one of this week's new games, maybe stop off on the way and donate some much-needed essentials for the evacuees.
Now that we've gotten the important PSA out of the way, here's the latest word on this week's releases:

Our usual source has not yet updated, so we're missing official word on European and Japanese releases, but we will update later if possible. For this week's Australian releases, hit the break.
You want a game? We got your game right here, from titles that were already supposed to be out, to those featuring teeny, tiny ninja dudes. And ... what's this? It seems we barely heard a whisper of From the Abyss, both for its Japanese release and subsequent localization, and now here it is. That can't bode well for the ARPG, but we'll be keeping a few fingers crossed, just in case.

Head past the break for the other major market releases for the week.
This week, it's a total reverse of last week. Whereas we enjoyed a flood of releases, while the rest of the gaming world stood by and watched, this week we've got only a single game, while the other major markets enjoy the novelty of actual releases. Note, however, we're not saying they're great games ... but they are games.
Commando: Steel Disaster
Hit the break to see what's happening in the rest of the world.
For once, U.S. gamers have a reason to lord over their counterparts in the rest of the world. Why? The other major markets are seeing either token releases, as in Europe, or none, as in Australia and Japan, while we here in the States are blessed with a bevy of games. Not just any games, either, not with Bangai-O Spirits leading the pack.
But rest assured European gamers, you are getting Chrono Trigger DS. It just won't be hitting your shores for awhile now, as the window for the game's release has been pushed back to "early 2009." One would assume that to be Q1, but you all know what your teachers told you about assuming.
So who's looking forward to the DS update of this classic RPG? Some consider it to be the greatest game ever made, you know.
Another week, another bunch of sequels and franchise continuations ... at least, among this week's Japanese releases. The rest of the world is looking at pretty average fare, with a few exceptions. Those Japanese releases are just giving us more and more reasons to import!
