DS releases for the week of March 10th

What a week for DS releases! Of course, in the shadow of a certain release on the Wii side of the Nintendo fence, a big week was probably necessary, but that doesn't make it any less exciting. Though there are only three DS titles scheduled for release, each one has something going for it. How often does that happen?
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates
  • Insecticide
  • Nanostray 2
In fact, there's a lot to look forward to all around the world. Europe's scoring Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker and Bomberman Land Touch! 2, among other titles, and Japan boasts our beloved Contra 4 (there, Dual Spirits), and the hilarious Duel Love. Surely you can find some time to tear yourself away from beatdowns for one of these.

DS releases for the week of March 3rd

Look sharp, DS owners -- there are a couple of solid choices competing for your funds this week. Our own beloved Shiren is wandering onto shelves alongside the Eco Creatures, and that's not all that's hitting stores. For gamers still wrapped up in other great recent releases, there may be some tough choices ahead. Time to start that stack of games that you'll still be working through by December!

For our friends in Europe -- we sure hope you happen to be Dora the Explorer fans ....
  • Anno 1701
  • Bubble Bobble: Double Shot
  • Chicken Hunter
  • Eco-Creatures: Save the Forest
  • Homie Rollerz
  • Imagine: Figure Skater
  • Let's Ride! Friends Forever
  • Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer
  • Ninja Reflex
  • Petz: Bunnyz

  • Bubble Bobble: Double Shot

DS releases for the week of February 18th

It's a good week to be a DS gamer in pretty much any region. Europe is a possible exception, but we happen to think Paint by DS is a neat-looking product. Outside of Europe and its possibly compelling coloring game, quality abounds this week, with Capcom's Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney as the flagship release in the U.S. Whenever an Ace Attorney game comes out, it's a Big Deal in DS-land, and this one is especially noteworthy!

Japan is flooded with cool games this week, including Space Invaders Extreme, the remake, J.B. Harold Murder ClubPopulous DS, and even a new Harvest Moon. And Australia gets a shot at both Advance Wars and Cooking Mama 2! There's a pretty good chance you'll have something to buy this week.
  • Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
  • Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of the Ancient Arts
  • FIFA Street 3

DS releases for the week of February 11th [update]

Of course the biggest news this week for the U.S. is Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Not only was it a hit in Japan, but it's a Nintendo-published game, and that always means news. Many of you are probably getting your Layt on right now.

In case you aren't into Layton or are just curious about the rest of the North American releases, the list also contains, well, one other game: an interesting dungeon hack-and-slash that recalls Hudson's Turbografx-16 days.

The release list is somewhat more populous in other regions. Europe in particular is getting treated to some worthy releases (found after the break).
  • Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts
  • Professor Layton and the Curious Village
  • Barnyard Blast: Swine of the Night
[Update: Amazon says that Barnyard Blast is out this week as well!]

WRUP: If you can see me, it's too late edition

When Assassin's Creed released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the latter quarter of last year, it was received with loving, open arms. The game sold well and we're sure Ubisoft is planning sequels. Nothing all too crazy there. But, word then came that a DS game was going to be released with the Assassin's Creed name, as well.

And, it looks decent. With the game releasing this week, we were wondering how many of you were looking forward to taking over as the assassin Altair? Do you plan to play the DS game? Did you play the Xbox 360 game? What are you playing?

DS releases for the week of February 4th

Hey, guys! Check it out ... it's My Horse and Me! We know you've been waiting for this one for a long time, and at last, this week, your dreams can be fulfilled. The only thing that could possibly make it better is if it was instead My Horsez and Me. Everyone knows the 'z' is a mark of quality. What's that? You're actually interested in finding out more about Azzazzin'z Assassin's Creed DS? Well, okay, if you insist. We're really leaning toward the horse(z) here, though.
  • Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles
  • My Horse & Me
  • Paws & Claws: Pet Resort
  • Puppy Palace
  • Real Soccer 2008
  • The Spiderwick Chronicles
  • Zoo Tycoon 2

DS releases for the week of January 28th

Somehow, it seems like something's missing. When we woke up this morning, fresh and rested, ready to face the week, almost immediately, a feeling of emptiness descended. What could it be? Wait ... is it the absolute lack of any DS releases in the United States? Oh, the pain ....

To see what's out in the rest of the world, slog on past the break.

[Update: Take heart! According to our commenters, who pay more attention to their preorders than to press releases (as they should), we do have Bomberman Land Touch! 2 to look forward to. Thanks, guys!]

DS releases for the week of January 21st

Legions of gamers have been waiting for this week, which brings the release of the latest Advance Wars. Even with the risks that come with picking up the newest version, we're sure that quite a few of you may be disappearing for the next few weeks. Know that you'll be missed, and try to remember to eat.

Not a war person? No worries; if you feel like doing a little yelling, you've got some options. Unless, of course, you live in Australia, where there are no new DS releases being reported for the week. How sad.
  • Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
For releases in the rest of the major markets, march on past the break.

DS Daily: Recent purchases

We're gonna guess that you haven't bought an actual DS lately, since they're sold out most places we look (seems to be a trend for Nintendo), but we still like to keep up with the games you're picking up. Taken advantage of any great sales or preorder bonuses lately? Just picked up a game because you had to have it? What have you bought recently? Since there haven't been a lot of big releases (but that is changing, as of right about ... now), we're curious what you've done to tide yourself over in the last month or so. Or, if you're not buying games, are you buying accessories? We've been doing a lot of cooing over various cases lately here at the DSF offices.

Also, we always like any excuse to watch this. Sure, it's not from a DS game, but hey, who's drawing battle lines between various Nintendo products here? Not us!

Nintendo lays out 2008's releases, we totally freak

Nintendo sent out a press release detailing the 2008 release schedule, and along with all the yay-awesome stuff we knew about, there's a ton of new stuff! We were just casually looking down the list, expecting familiar titles and release dates, and we almost spit out our Diet Cherry Coke when we saw previously-unknown release dates, and even a few new titles! For the safety of your computer, DS Fanboy recommends that you put down your Diet Cherry Coke before proceeding.

For the first time, the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon sequels have been announced for U.S. release. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness are tentatively slated for a "Q2" release. More personally exciting is the revelation that Bangai-O Spirits was picked up by D3 of America, also Q2. And by "personally exciting" we mean "OH YES AWESOME. AWESOME."

Other surprises include Ubisoft's Quick Yoga Training (April), Nintendo's Crosswords DS (May 5th!), Rondo of Swords (which we Eric surmised is Success Corp.'s Ituwari no Rondo) and complete unknowns like Organize It (May 8th).

We've reproduced the whole list for you after the break, so you can freak out. We think we're over the initial shoOH DUDE SUPER DODGEBALL IN APRIL. If you can handle the intensity, check out the Wii schedule as well!

DS releases for the week of January 14th

Wherever you are this week, there's not a lot to choose from. That isn't to say there aren't a few worthwhile titles hitting the shelves, but the key words here are "a few." As in "not many." As in, "not a big burden on your wallet." Considering everything we've got coming up for the DS, around the world, that's probably pretty good news.
  • Corvette Evolution GT
  • Miami Nights: Singles in the City
  • Nanostray 2
For the rest of the world's major markets, see the release lists after the jump.

DS Daily: Coming up next

There are a lot of exciting games coming out in the next few months (some pretty soon, too!), but what we're curious about is what's on the schedule for the gamer-on-a-budget? If you could only buy one new DS game in the next few months, what would you pick? Are you dying for Advance Wars? Are you a diehard for the Ace Attorney? Or is there something else that's caught your eye (and your wallet)?

DS releases for the week of January 7th

At last, games are releasing again, albeit slowly and in a fashion that is somewhat less-than-interesting, by which we mean that unless you're a huge fan of Jackass or you live in Australia, this week is a yawn. But some games are better than no games, we're sure of that ... and there's a lot of good stuff coming up in the next weeks, so we'll consider this an appetizer.
  • Brain Challenge
  • Jackass: The Game
  • Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure
Chow your way past the break to see what's out in the rest of the major markets.

DS releases for the week of December 31st

We hope you're so excited about Rune Factory 2 for the DS -- excited enough to import it, that is -- because that's the only DS game releasing this week across all major markets. But hey, that's okay ... we needed time to catch up on all those games we never got to this year, right?
