Square Enix has admitted this oversight, and released a statement to Joystiq explaining the lack of units. They felt the unique style of TWEWY was released in just the right place at just the right time. They were right -- but that still doesn't result in John Q DS getting the game! Square has confirmed that the next round of units will be arriving mid-June, so you'll have to twiddle your thumbs for a little longer. Relax - it's not the end of the world.

Can't find the End of the World
Searching, searching ... dang it all! Where's the Japanese cyberpunk Shibuya-themed trendy pop culture action-RPG when you need it? Gamers have been trying to find The World Ends With You on store shelves, but a meager shipment + critical acclaim = no game for you.

Nintendo reaches out to alternative retailers
The Game Factory's Damien Sarrazin is spilling the beans on Nintendo. Apparently, Nintendo is looking to reach out to alternative retailers, as the company has pretty much done all it can with the traditional video game retail space, says Sarrazin."There is nothing more you can do in the usual places where you would expect to find videogame hardware and software." says Sarrazin. He goes on further to say "So, the only way they can expand their presence is to access alternative retailers - and in order to do that, they need to come up with the right offering." And Sarrazin's company believes they have the right offering in Zenses, a line-up of DS puzzle games targeted at female gamers.
Nintendo met The Game Factory recently at their media summit to see if Zenses was a title they'd be interested in. "We've created a game so that you can take a break from your daily routine and sort of take a mental vacation," he says. No word on if Nintendo was interested in the title, though.

Settlers DS to be EB/Gamestop exclusive
Some of us have been waiting for the DS release of The Settlers for quite a while! And for those of you who are, like us, eager for some PC-style RTS action on the go, then there's just one more hoop to jump through: Gamestop. According to this week's circular, the game is coming out on March 28th ... but as a Gamestop exclusive. We guess you could also go to EB if you wanted. The upside to a game being exclusive to one retailer is that you'll at least know where to go to find it. Think positive!
We hope that The Settlers turns out better than the last Gamestop-exclusive DS game.

Nintendo hits Malaysia (officially)

Nintendo has recently been mounting their new global offensive, and last week it landed in Malaysia in the form of an official counter in the Mid Valley Megamall in capital Kuala Lumpur. Sometimes these forays of Nintendo's are not so successful, but it seems that they has been welcomed in Malaysia despite the rampant piracy in the surrounding region.
Fans are paying a premium for their official titles, but in return they get warranties and replacement policies, and a quality guarantee is nothing to turn down. And the area is beautiful designed, with lots of bright surfaces and display units. Check out a couple of photos after the jump.
