More Top Spin 3 screens, tennis fans clap politely

Thwock goes the tennis ball, and the crowd goes wild! Tennis fans should be automatically impressed with the graphical quality displayed in Top Spin 3 for the DS, if only because some pour souls actually tried their hand at Tennis Masters.

Five new screens are ready for action in the gallery, and they certainly hold true to our original positive impression. Here's a tip - open the gallery, put a hat and sunglasses on, then pay some chump five bucks to hold up your monitor while running back in forth in front of you. It's just like being there! The upside of buying Top Spin 3 when it comes out? You'll have no more money left to waste on paying people to do stupid things.

MLB 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars gets fantasy price

DS Fanboy rather liked Major League Baseball 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars (even if it's a mouthful to say). Those of you that are interested in this odd but fun baseball title should consider picking it up today, though, as opposed to any other day, so that you can take advantage of Amazon's temporary sale.

Until 12am Pacific time, Amazon will have the game available for $14.99. If you don't mind outdated rosters, and you're craving a good, cheap baseball experience on your DS, this title probably won't disappoint. It may not be as weird and wacky as a Mutant League game (ah, if only), but it does offer a refreshing experience compared to some run-of-the-mill baseball titles out there.

Rumor: GTA IV on the DS

Look, this one is pretty unlikely, considering the source, but when Ubisoft explicitly works on a spin-off game for the DS, from their big 2007 console game Assassin's Creed, then you too might start looking differently at a rumor here or there. And, considering how much we know about Take Two, we know they like to make money. Having a game on the DS? Yeah, that's how you make money.

So what is this all about? Well, N4G posted a supposed leak retail sheet showing Grand Theft Auto IV's existence on the DS, with a release date of June 15th. Of course, when it's listed above Guitar Hero 3 for the DS (Guitar Hero: On Tour, we assume), which is in italics all by itself for some reason, then you can understand why we remain apprehensive about it. Odds are, this is just a clerical error.

DS Fanboy interview: Rob Hawkey on MLB 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars

Responses to the recent announcement of MLB 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars have been wildly mixed. Rather than pulling a dumbed-down version of the console title to the DS, as is usual with cross-platform releases, 2K Sports took a different turn. Deep Fried Entertainment produced something completely different for the handheld -- and we really mean different -- and while it seems to be a risky proposition, it's an interesting one.

We sat down with Rob Hawkey, Game Director at Deep Fried to discuss the unusual baseball title, and he had a lot to tell us about what went into the design and creation of MLB 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars. Slide past the break for all the details.

2K announces Carnival Games for DS

This announcement will no doubt be huge awesome news for a bunch of people, while simultaneously eliciting dramatic eye-rolls from others: the Carnival Games franchise is coming to the DS! The DS version of Carnival Games will be released this summer with an assortment of games new and old. According to the press release, "Favorites such as Alley Ball, Frog Leap and Dunk Tank are complemented with fresh games including RC Raceway and Clown Hammer. "

It's no surprise that Carnival Games would branch out -- in the same announcement, 2K revealed that they had shipped a million copies of the Wii game. That's a ton for any system, and a massive hit for a system like the Wii on which third parties have difficulties.

2K announces Top Spin 3 for DS

For all of you looking for fast and furious Tennis action without the resulting elbow pain, look no further. 2K has announced that Top Spin 3, the latest iteration in their, you guess it, tennis franchise, will be gracing Nintendo systems. Development duties will be handled by PAM development, a 2K studio, and release is currently planned for spring 2008.
