Extendable stylus from Hori

You know, if you're anything like me, you should be locked up get a lot of hand cramps when trying to play Meteos or Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for any kind of extended period of time. Most of this can be attributed to the small size of the stylus (some of us aren't lucky enough to have a DS Lite yet to enjoy its better stylus). So I was pretty psyched when I saw an extendable stylus that actually fits in the slot on the DS. In checking around to see if different types of stylus with this feature were available (I honestly couldn't find anywhere to purchase it at the original link), I came across this for the small sum of $2.99 US that also locks into the DS' slot.

I like this one better:

It's the size of a regular pen *and* it fits into the holes on the back of the DS. Not the most elegant solution, but at least it's man-sized.

I got one of these stylus shells off of ebay and it's great. It doesn't fit in the slot obviously, because it's the size of a wide barrel pen and the normal stylus screws in so the tip is exposed. I keep one of those extender styli in the slot for use in a pinch, but always end up using the stylus + shell because it's way more comfortable.

Does the size of the larger, thick stylus interfere with gameplay though?

Not for me. Your milage may vary. Even with regular pens, I use a Dr. Grip Gel, because I can't stand using slim barrel pens, let alone the cramp inducing DS stylus!

I found that with a sharp knife, some tape and a strip of paper you can get the original DS stylus to fit inside a Pilot Explorer ballpoint pen's ink-cartridge.
So thats what I use.

i've got the old stylus in black. got it when the target dses went for 100 bucks at my local game store rhino games. and i got the nice screen covers that don't use glue and whatever. it's nice, and it's made of the same type of plastic as the regular stylus, which i'm not sure was mentioned yet. i am definately getting the lite version you are showing there if and when and when i get a lite.
