New Download Station demos revealed

By way of Go Nintendo, the comprehensive rundown of the next generation of Download Station demos has finally been revealed. Some of the available downloads are questionable (Metroid Prime: Hunters demo?), but the Magnetica demo has us thoroughly intrigued.

The list reads:
  • Big Brain Academy playable demo
  • Metroid Prime: Hunters playable demo
  • Magnetica playable demo
  • Brain Age playable demo
  • Tetris - Push and Standard playable demos
  • X-men 3: The Official Game exclusive movie clip
  • Over the Hedge exclusive movie clip
[Thanks Nushio!]

1. I think it's great that they finally have Metroid Prime: Hunters as a demo.

I hope the DSfanboy staff relizes that not EVERYBODY can get the game, and we all DON'T have a fancy DS lite to play it on (you big jerks!)

2. Woah when's that come out,
...and we DON'T ALL have Metroid Prime and DS lite.
WOW I didn't know that :))

3. Personally Not being able to actually PLAY MP:Hunters is the reason I didn't buy it. I don't feel like waisting $35 bucks on a game I won't like.

Anyway, it's not like all the reviews have been 100%, i believe the aveerage is about 75% or something. So yeah MP:Hunters demo is a good to have. I'm looking forward to it.

4. What Marc said. Just happy to have a playable demo of Metroid Prime: Hunters.

Aren't the Brain Age and Tetris DS demos from the previous round of Download Station demos, though?

5. Last time I was in the US I picked up Brain Age and True Swing at one time or another. Actually, I got Brain Age about 2 days before I left and refused to turn my DS off until I got home. Man is the Sudoku game GOOD!
Anywho, they definetly had Tetris, Brain Age, True Swing, A Metroid Prime Hunters Video, some form of Mario Kart and a Meteos Demo. Most of this looks fairly new. Magnetica suuposedly = Zuma, so I can't wait to give that a shot. Shame we Canucks don't have any of these dandy little download stations yet.

6. Don't feel too badly, Nik -- apparently we Americans don't have as many of those dandy little download stations as Nintendo SAYS we do on their website. I took my son to THREE different EB Games and GameStop stores yesterday in the Northern VA suburbs of DC -- all three of which were said to have DS Download Stations on Nintendo's site -- and NONE of them had the kiosk. On the plus side, they did have the DS Lite on display and running the NSMB and Metroid demos on those ultra bright and crisp displays. All I can say is, "wow." I was going to hold off on the hardware upgrade, but since I saw and got my mitts on the DS Lite, I can't stop thinking about it. The EB Games store droid on duty said that they were currently giving $50 in credit for old DS's, with an additional $20 in credit for a very limited time. That gets you PAST half of the price of a new DS Lite -- and you could probably pay for most of a new unit if you trade in some old handheld or console games, too. See if they have the deal at the EB Games in your area -- we're considering upgrading all THREE old DS's in our house!

7. Is the Prime demo the same as the pack in with the launch day DS? I hope not. One of the things that gets me into PC games is playing the demos on the internet. Nintendo should follow suit and set up some demo servers for Metroid and Tetris.

8. your DL station can be your room, im sure most of you have heard of this, and it requires no tampering or modding of the ds, all you need is a pc and a certain wireless card.

9. @Nik -
I have used a download "kiosk" at EB in Kitchener, Ontario. They are out there, but it's not an actual kiosk like the one pictured, you just have to be somewhere in the store and choose DS Download Play.

10. Nik,

If you need help, come to New York. There's plenty of those download stations here. (just watch out for some of those taxi drivers)

11. Heh, I still have to get one of these things in my local stores.

12. does anyone know if its for free? and how many downloads are you allowed up to??? thanks!

13. emma,

Downloads are free of charge and unlimited. You can't store them indefinitely though. You lose the game as soon as you turn off your DS.
