Aksys Games is quickly becoming our favorite publisher of niche DS titles. Just last month, the small studio announced that it would localize Super Dodgeball Brawlers, blowing kisses in our direction. Then earlier today, Aksys revealed its plans to rebrand Tantei Jinguji Saburo (Detective Saburo Jinguji) as Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles and bring the adventure title to North America next spring. Despite having appeared on a variety of consoles since his debut on the Famicom Disk System 20 years ago, this will be the gumshoe's first visit to the states.
Like with the Phoenix Wright series, you'll progress through the noir-ish plots with menu-based interrogations and clues you've found during your investigations. With Jake Hunter, however, you'll solve your cases with a Guile-styled haircut and a bebop jazz soundtrack. How wicked is that? We're not sure yet whether or not Aksys Games will leave in the Shinjuku setting and chain-smoking scenes, but we do know that Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles will be budget-priced at $19.99. Hit the gallery for five screenshots from the Japanese release.

Schweet. I've been looking for a good detective game. (Touch! Detective 1/2 doesn't look like it did very well, hopefully this is better)

Awesome, I like Point-and-Click Adventure's
So far on DS I have
Trace Memory
Phoenix Wright
Phoenix Wright: Justice For All
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
PW3 will be in the mail sometime soon...but Capcom said there was some technical glitch and that's why not enough copies were available at their warehouse.
I also plan on getting Professor Layton and the Curious Village when it comes out next year.
I'll most likely get this game :D

Jake Hunter? That's really the best name they could come up with? :S
Oh, well. If it's a good game, then nothing else matters.

I hope they don't censor the fact that his man smokes like a chimney.

Haha, we were discussing that very thing when we heard this, Pizza Pasta. Wonder if it'll at least get an M rating for the smoking.

I'm hoping they don't. When you guys reported on this game back in the spring I loved the idea that "smoke tobacco" was one of the action options.
I would hate to see this option left out because I am very intrigued by the thought of what this action could trigger in the game. Plus, I'm a sucker for uselss smoking in games, which is probably why I love Metal Gear so much. Maybe I watched Escape From New York too many times when I was little.

Why oh why do they have to change names like this ? The whole scenario takes place in Japan, will they also change the backgrounds and characters ?
Anyway, 20 dollars is a fair price and I'll order my copy to Europe as soon as possible. Thank you Aksys !

I don't mind that they changed his name: but I too think "Jake Hunter" is pretty lame. Please let the man keep his smokes! タバコを吸いたい。
