Eden Studios reported last April that the game would be coming to all platforms, but we started getting suspicious when no mentions of the DS version were showing up in Alone in the Dark press releases. There was always the hope that information would suddenly arise, as was the case with Assassin's Creed, but it wasn't meant to be.
Are any of you disappointed, or do you prefer to keep your survival horror games to your home console?

That is too bad, that would be really cool...we need more than just The Ward on the DS.

They are having a hard time with the console versions. Also these sort of conversions never turn out well.
I hope AID turns out to be a "huge success" for Atari maybe then they will work in a Ds version.

I don't really see this as a bad thing. I think that it's very difficult to port a game like that (survival/horror) to a portable system. A lot of things that are important to the overall feel, such as graphics and sound, are reduced and the overall feeling of horror is gone. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be fun, I just don't think that it would be really scaring anyone.

I'm more of a Silent Hill guy myself, which is a shame seeing as I'm a Nintendo fanboy and as such have about 0.05% probability of seeing a Silent Hill game again.

Konami is pretty friendly with Nintendo I think. They've been supporting the virtual console with a nice variety of titles and the GBA/DS Castlevanias have done well. With games like Alone in the Dark, Fatal Frame, and Obscure coming to Wii, Konami might hop on the horror bandwagon and port or remake some Silent Hill games if they see the demand. I'd support that.
As for Alone in the Dark on DS, I'm not too sad to see it go as long as the Wii version makes it through. Dementium was pretty good, but I generally enjoy that kind of horror on the big screen. I am hoping Dementium 2 is a bit faster paced.

DS needs more mature games, simply to balance out the ratio of good/mature games to those aimed at 4 year old girls
