We're not going out without a bang, however! To give Show and Tell a nice send-off, we asked some of the folks around the Joystiq network, as well as the DS Fanboy staff, to share their stuff ... specifically, their DS units and cases. We learned a few things along the way, such as the fact that the crimson & black DS Lite took over around here (half of us picked one up) and also, that we have a lot of pets.
Remember, you can always send us pictures of your cases, or anything else you want to show off! Just because this feature's going on hiatus for a few weeks doesn't mean we're not interested in showing off whatever you've got, so long as it has a little Nintendo flavor. Just take some pictures (or copy your web album links) and send them to showmeit [at] dsfanboy [dot] com. We'll take care of the rest.
The Joystiq crew
It only seems fair that we start at the top if we're looking at Joystiq folks, and that means kicking off the case show with our big boss and occasional writer, Barb Dybwad. Insider tip: Barb is pretty much the coolest person ever, even though she's hell of short. And considering her particular choice of Phat, it's no surprise that she's all over the new cobalt/black Lite:

Next up, her minion, Joystiq bossman Christopher Grant, who wanted to make sure everyone knew that he got his little cart keeper in Japan and that it's awesome and everyone should have one. That's about where we stopped listening. He does run on (but it is a pretty nifty little case). He also says that isn't my lost Hotel Dusk, but I'm not sure I believe him. He's crafty.

Writer Zack Stern should be punished, because he keeps apparently mistaking his beautiful black Lite for a football or something, as he says, "I've never dropped it, but twice, I've flung it far across a room, with it skidding and skittering over my hardwood floor." What could such a lovely unit have done to deserve that kind of treatment? Zack, you're a bad, bad man, even though it's weathered the damage well.

Finally, James Ransom-Wiley (whom this blogger affectionately calls James-hyphen) was responsible for this devilish combination. We must say, it does look tasty.

Massively/WoW Insider
Handhelds and MMOs are a great combination, so we weren't surprised that Massively/WoW Insider guru Elizabeth Harper was among the first to leap at the chance to show off her Nintendo gear. Like any true hardcore MMO player, she's got snacks lying around -- but they're not for her. At least, we hope, since they're dog treats for her two baby basset pups. She also kept telling us her case was very boring. She'd better not tell Barb, since theirs are pretty, uh, similar ....

DS gaming is serious business for Massively's Chris Chester; he was too busy playing to put his Lite down long enough for a pic. Needless to say, we approve of this sort of dedication. He assures us that cases are for wimps. Guess you don't need one if you're always using it!

Right here at DS Fanboy
We may not have any fancy Ice Blue Lites around here, but we do have more cases, pound for pound, than anyone else, which just makes sense (we probably have more units, too ....). JC Fletcher just ordered a new one, having lost one of his homemade cases, which he will find as soon as this one shows up (that one, obviously, is not his, but is identical to the one he's just purchased). You might also remember his Pocky case.

Dear Candace Savino is also in the crimson & black club. She couldn't resist the colors, since it matched her iPod case and apparently, her backpack! Can you blame her for succumbing to its charms? She also spread the DS spirit to her mother, and we've got pictures of her gear, also! Mother-of-Candace went with a blue bag and a hot pink sleeve purchased by her loving daughter as a gift. All together now: awwww.

David Hinkle seems to have storage issues; we're not sure we've ever seen one case stuffed so completely with games. We may all have to chip in and send him some sort of box-shaped object to put those bad boys in.

Eric Caoili is a lucky dude. Not only is he the proud owner of a sweet leather case, he's also married to an awesome and artistic lady (who occasionally helps us out with awesome stick figures). Why is this important? It means he has a freakin lot of cases, they are all cool, and one day, we're going to rob him.

We're actually really surprised that we got Chris Greenhough to lay off Advance Wars long enough to take a picture of anything, much less his DS. Like Candace, he seems to prefer red and black when it comes to color choices.

And finally, there's just one of us left ... me! I have one that I made (poorly), which I also occasionally use when I need to transport my removable drive. I had lots of fabric left over, so I made some booties for the impending child (they turned out better than the case). My real case, however, is the frequent recipient of suspiciously hungry stares from the cat-monster, Random. I keep worrying he's going to eat it.
