Sure, we've seen in-battle screens before, but none of them had these weird rings. We're assuming they'll work with the stylus (uh-duh), but wonder if they'll be anything like the rings you must tap in Ouendan and Elite Beat Agents, or if they'll work in some other manner? We know the battle system for Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood utilizes combos, so maybe the rings will work with that in some way?
Oh well, looks like we'll have to wait and find out. In the meanwhile, see the new screens in our gallery below.

To be honest, I'm looking more forward to this than the new console Sonic. I know what I'm going to get with that game, but this looks really...different. I'm intrigued.
I'd still prefer if they kept Rouge the Bat out. Not because she's a crappy character - even though she is, but because she's a sexualised bat.
A sexualised bat.
It's a little bit...4channish for my tastes. I like my Sonic and Chan separate.

This actually hurt, seeing this screen. I'd hoped that they wouldn't take the Final Fantasy route with the command structure, that they'd design a system that had the feeling of Sonic's speed and yet allowed for control (Tales of Destiny style, perhaps), but I can't help but look at that ring as what it most likely is, a prison trapping the player to long, drawn-out battles against bosses where you have to grind away at HP just so you can *gasps* level.
Please, please, please let this just be a very rough version, don't make me wait for the cutscene to finish, don't make me have to run back to the inn when my PowerMove Points run low. I'd never buy that game, no matter how Silver-free and well-written the story is.
