If there is one thing we can appreciate, it's talent. And these folk have it, as the students from Hermann Wesselink College manage to bust out into a pair of great Nintendo themes a capella style. They handle a choice selection from The Legend of Zelda, as well as Super Mario Bros. in the video above.
If our school had stuff like this back when we were in our developing stages, maybe we would've paid attention and not grown up to become blogging scum.
Update: Some readers point out that this isn't a capella. Sorry folks, we're not a music blog!
Seriously...definitely not a cappella. Also not miraculously impressive, or...really impressive at all. Somewhat amusing, I guess. I guess I just expect a bit more, because my friends and I sit around sometimes and improvise random game songs. One friend of mine happens to know the NES' channel output, so he's pretty accurate with incidental sound.
Well there are pitch issues throughout and they definitely have some difficulties with the ragtime from SMB, but still a worthy effort and better than I could ever do.
Not choir quality, but definitely talent show worthy.
Agreed, this is really only talent show worthy. Also, what's with the three curly-haired clones at the end of the camera's pan!? Why and how!? So many curly-haired peoples!
There is actually two a capella Nintendo medleys I love. One I can only find on iTunes: http://tinyurl.com/3my67p (Nintendapella) or on YouTube (http://tinyurl.com/4zchqj).
See how I'm the only one in the post or any of the comments to correctly spell a cappella so far? I think that my amazing music term spelling ability would have come in handy, don't you? Oh well...I'm sure whoever you're working on adding to the Fanboy staff will have a comprehensive knowledge of these things, right?

Um. This isn't a capella. There's clearly a piano playing.
It's still neat, even though I hear some off notes and off timing.
Yes, I was a chorus dork for seven years.

I should record that sometime.
