Seems like a cheap game for Chunsoft to develop: just remake the Shiren GB dungeons in the Shiren DS engine and send it out the door. Shiren fans would no doubt be pleased to have another set of dungeons in which to die!

Still haven't managed to reach the top of Table Mountain in the first Shiren yet, but it's the first console roguelike I've really, really enjoyed. It's just such a clever, charming and addictive game.
I was surprised by how much I liked Shiren so if the next one gets a worldwide release I'll definitely be buying it.

hells yeah!!! The first DS outting was great, I'd been waiting over a decade to play the damn thing translated. If the original GB version gets the remake treatment I'll be there day 1 :D

As one of the world's biggest Shiren fans I'm excited BUT, if I recall correctly, this GB sequel, while a new story and location, was a bit of a stripped down version of the SNES game. If they're talking about incorporating some sort of Shiren 3 Wii compatibility I guess I'm hoping they might use the story from the GB game but a system (item, monsters, mechanics, etc.) closer to Shiren 3 Wii.

I've played both Shiren Gameboy games through emulation and they do feel a bit basic and stripped down compared to the SNES/DS game (graphics and audio especially, but you'd expect that really). I don't speak or read Japanese so I couldn't understand the in-game text or the full intricacies of the game systems, but the core gameplay is in place in both titles - explore, pick up items and weapons, try to think 2 or 3 moves ahead, die a lot...
From what I've heard on other sites it seems that the new game will be a full remake with new graphics and rebalanced gameplay. I don't own a Wii so any connectivity features will be lost on me, so I hope that I won't be missing out on anything major by not be able to use this feature.

As if I'll ever actually finish all the dungeons from the first one. Love the game though.

I'm almost fatally attracted to Shiren the Wander, it's so intrinsically masochistic that I can't help but want to play it again even though I didn't really seem to accomplish anything in the time I spent with it.
