What about you lot? Do you have a large crowd of friends who are equipped with a DS and regularly indulge in local multiplayer? Or are you like most of us, sadly limited to battling over Force Gems and taking out tank units with strangers from afar?

There are 3 DSes in my house, and we occasionally play together, but mostly i'm forced to play online to get my multiplayer fix.
Best thing ever: 8-player Mario Kart DS at the 2006 Nintendo Fusion Tour. A bunch of us just pulled out our handhelds and started playing.

Luckily, I work at a K-12 school. Last week, first time ever: 10 player Tetris, and 8 player Mario Kart. Of course, I'm a teacher and they were all 3-5th graders, but fun none the less.

That is awesome. The largest Tetris game I've been in on had five people, and even that was insane fun (infinite spin be damned!).
Our household has 2 DSes and we make regular use of an imported mahjong game (Superlite Custom), Clubhouse Games, and Planet Puzzle League. Several friends of mine have discovered that we all have DSes as well, so we all now know to bring our units along whenever we're going to hang out.

Aye, filling up a LAN game in Mario Kart or Tetris feels great, it's like an accomplishment that says, "I really do have friends!".
And then a Blue Shell is unleashed and all hell breaks loose.

Aw, wow, I envy you guys; I only have one friend who owns a DS, and the most fun we've ever had playing wireless is the Super Mario Bros. minigames, lol. But we both just got The World Ends With You recently, and we're meeting up to check out how multiplayer works.

6 people at my workplace have DSes, so we ocassionally have "meetings" in which we are told to make sure we bring our special "pens" and "notepads." Mario Kart DS is our game of choice.

I'm doing an acting degree, and we often spend a lot of time sitting around on set of a film or in the dressing room. We've been gradually gaining DS's and our best is 7 player mario kart! It was beautiful insanity, even the girls who were sceptical to begin with soon became insanely competitive.

My friends were actually mocking me today because I don't have any one to play with. None of them are willing to buy a DS. *weeps*

I run a Meetup.com DS meet in Calgary - trying to get DS'ers together is an absolute nightmare! We've had 8-player Bomberman and Mario Kart running, those are both riots - but trying to get people 'out' of an evening is major hassle!

Band class, definitely, and Calculus; us kiddlings win the game. We had to play for graduation last night, and there were 324 seniors graduating--needless to say, it was long night. We had about seven of us in Mario Kart at a time. We also managed to attract a little six-year-old, whose mother promptly showed up on stage and started hissing at us. Oh, the boundless joy. Apparently it was our fault her kid wasn't paying attention to the proceedings.

Ditto Aluvendale , there are a group of us at work that organise a "meeting" every now and then. Usually we can muster five or six for Mario Karts.
We also have a Wii in the Rec room (with 4 remotes) so Wii Sports and M&S @ Beijing Olympics gets a daily work out.
BTW, I am 42 years young :)

I have about...three stories. First was my 17th birthday, I had taken a bunch of my friends with me to the mall and had some other friends meet us there. We got lunch, then played 5 player MKDS (Some of them forgot their DSes), and we were so loud in the food court that people started complaining. Then we went to the GameStop and told them they should have joined our MKDS match. Best birthday so far.
Second one, well, at my local anime convention that occurred this past February, we had two rounds of massive PictoChat, once Saturday night and once Sunday morning. 8 players Saturday, mudkipz were drawn, hide and seek was played (In the artist alley, lol). 7 players Sunday, more hide and seek.
Third story...I was at a friend's house...we had six people in the Underground on Diamond and Pearl. Fun times.

hahaha, that day at the mall was funny as hell. Damned blue shells, only reason I laughed my ass off most of the time.

I have a somewhat large group of friends who have DS meetings on a regular basis. We usually play Mario Kart, Mario Party, Tetris, Picross and Puzzle Quest.
Oh and we're from Sao Paulo, Brazil btw.
