Talk about a blast from the past -- this Palkia/Dialga-branded Pokémon DS Lite appeared in Japan almost two years ago, to coincide with the release of Pearl and Diamond. But it will soon be making a comeback, and at a GameStop near you, North Americans -- Go Nintendo reader Spindash snapped this promotional display at his local store. We've no date yet, but further shots reveal a price tag of $129.99, with the final package including a matching case, a 22-minute Pokémon Dungeon DVD, a Grovyle poster, and a T-shirt. Noice!
Just one question, Nintendo: why no Giratina Lite?

I have to make sure I pick this up when it comes out. I just hope I'm not broke when it comes out though.

Hmm, I was looking to upgrade my launch Lite, may pick this up. Can't really tell what color it is though, blackish gold kind of? Either way looks pretty slick.

Man, that ticks me off. Now every little brat is gonna be walking around with one and mine will no longer be "special" because I'll see it everywhere. GameStop, I truely hate you...
My brother bought mine in a bundle pak from PokemonCenter.com last year for $330, that's just so messed up >_>;

It's not Gamestop, although you should hate them, but not for that. Nintendo chose to release this as a separate item and use Gamestop as a channel. It's them you should be mad at.

Granted, the system may have lost some "value" in your eyes, but are you seriously annoyed at Gamestop/Nintendo for selling this product in the US?
Haven't we all been complaining for _years_ that Nintendo isn't giving us enough of the special edition handheld systems that Japan gets?
Isn't this what we were asking for?

as an occasional early adopter, i couldnt resist this gem when it was first available as an import.
the black housing is graphitey, Palkia is metallic gold, and Dialga is metallic silver.
boy, did i shell out a fine penny for it, but it's so sexy, envy of all the neighborhood kids. totally worth it.
nice that it's available domestically for 'cheap.'
cant wait to play Platinum on mine!

So, are we still officially pining for a DS redesign now? Or are we supposed to forget all that so we can whine when they announce a re-design so we can complain about all the special editions coming at the same time?

Stupid question: This the system have a polished finish on both sides or is it matte? Just asking because I do not enjoy polished finishes on handhelds because its makes them a bit hard to hold and show dirt, scratches, and fingerprints too much.

Why the hell didn't they release this earlier? I might still pick one up, given I have the cash to do so. Here's hoping the US gets its OWN limited editions in the future.

Right...so while we get the aged DP version, Japan will get the brand-new Platinum DS. I have a black DS already and fleetingly thought of buying this one (or the TWEWY one) since I do a lot of back-and-forth stuff and generally have to borrow a DS to do so...
But honestly? I'll pass it by and (maybe) shell out the cash to obtain the "super-special-awesome" Platinum DS that they had as part of a giveaway. I love that DS...
Oh, and I'd be more inclined to get the DP version if it weren't gold/silver etchings. They should've used the blue/pink glow colors from Diaruga/Parukia...that would've been cool.

What percentage of DS owners will actually fit into the included one-size-ticks-all T-shirt? (If only it were a tiny T-shirt that slipped onto the DS itself.)

Hey, if it's anything like the Zelda DS, I can buy one now and sell it for profit later!

Well well well, a special edition lite that is an acceptable color (with a non-annoying design on it, to boot!). I need a job for this...
