As someone who planned and enjoyed a wedding less than a year ago (actually, my wife organized it all, as I was busy blogging), I can tell you this -- it is a difficult thing to find a good wedding photographer.
It's tempting to hire anyone local who seems the least bit adequate with a camera, so long as they're cheap. Even worse, you might consider relying on that friend of yours with a fancy digital camera, or on some dude videotaping the ceremony.
But if you manage to fight off that rational part of you that keeps begging you to hire a photographer for a sensible price, the next time your friends pull out their bland wedding photo album, you'll be able to smugly think to yourself, "Ha, our wedding totally kicked their wedding's ass."

Is it sad that I totally think that's very pretty and classy? I feel like a nerd.
But it mostly works with the black and white DS lites. My black/crimson may not lend itself as well with my guy's black Diamond/Pearl DS. But who knows. :3

My wife has the black lite, I have the white one (but I wanted the pink one! Curses!).
Speaking of marriage - I just went to the courthouse. It cost whatever the license itself cost, the lady behind the desk stamped a paper, and we were done with the entire ordeal in 5 minutes, then my wife and I went and had slurpees in the park. Weddings are for suckers.

That's the kind of wedding I want. XD I'm not a fan of the huge ceremony/planning for months for just one day thing. I'd rather spend it on a vacation.

Nice picture. We got married before the DS was even a glimmer in someone's eye, but we're both sporting His and Hers Lites now. :)
We did have a pro photographer, but got a family friend to video the wedding. Make sure you emphasize ahead of time that at no time, should they turn off the camera during the ceremony to make adjustments. grrr...

My wife and I had a pretty geeky wedding. Princess Bride, Battlestar Galactica and Final Fantasy references throughout the ceremony. I also made sure to coordinate this pic with the wedding party and their DS's.

Good move on hiring a pro photographer.
The photos will be one of your greatest mementos from the day, so it's worth the extra cash. And after hearing from friends and family about how much they disliked their wedding photos, we just had to go pro.
On a side note, I didn't get a DS until after I was married, but now, my wife plays it more than I do!
Possible side-post on games for girls? She likes Sims 2 Castaway and Picross, not the cheesy Imagine stuff.

I should preface by noting that us ladies are all different, and there's hardly any sort of universal girl taste in existence: I loathe the color pink, I preordered Soul Calibur III, and one of my favorite series is Castlevania. So it's a bit hard to point to a particular game and declare that all girls will love it, because...well...we're all different.
Anyway. The disclaimer out of the way, you might want to look at picking up Professor Layton and the Curious Village. There's puzzles and there's a story, and while the two are somewhat related they're not exactly intertwined, so if your wife is absolutely stumped on a...say...matchstick puzzle she doesn't have to necessarily solve it to progress in the story if she doesn't want to.

I gave my bridesmaids ds's as thank you gifts. They were pretty happy about it.

I'm suddenly tempted to buy any future husband a white DS just so I can jack that photo idea.

I think this picture is absolutely spectacular, and very classy. And funny enough, my husband & I do own a black & white DS.
The really funny thing, though, is that while the white was mine and was the first one we got, and the black was bought for him as a birthday present....the black is now mine, and the white is now his. The reasoning behind this swap?
The white sent my OCD so far into overdrive I was spending more time cleaning dust from the cracks than I was playing. Considering I play my DS in some form or another for at least a couple hours every day, that's saying a lot.
Tho, I didn't get to play my DS on my wedding day. Nobody would let me within 15 feet of it, for they feared they'd lose the bride to Kirby.
However, I did find time to read DSFanboy that day :)

Hey,
Thanks so much for enjoying my photo! The bride and groom love their Nintendo DS' so it just made sense that we have a little fun with them.
Thanks again--I really appreciate your kindness.
