DS Fanswag: An Etrian reminder

Interested in giving Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard a try? Then don't forget to drop by our latest giveaway for your chance at one of two copies we're giving away. If you're lucky, you might even pick up a bonus accessory. What are you waiting for?

DS Fanswag: Etrian Odyssey II

Last year, DS Fanboy was one of the few places you could find a copy of Etrian Odyssey, and in anticipation of the eventual rarity of the sequel, we've doubled up this time around, and have two copies on offer for two lucky readers! And just to sweeten the deal, we'll throw in the Monaco aluminum case for one of our winners. We know Etrian Odyssey can be a little difficult -- this way, your handheld will be safe when it accidentally falls right under your shoe. Well, safer, at least.

What do you need to do to win? Just tell us about some of the most difficult games you've played on the DS here in the comments on this post. You may enter once per day. One grand prize winner will walk away with a copy of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard ($29.99), as well as the Monaco case ($24.95), and a second winner will pick up the game as well. The contest will run through Monday, June 30; that night, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, entries will close, and we'll choose two winners in a random drawing. To enter, you must be 18 or older, and a current legal resident of the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec). Have questions? Check the official rules.

DS Fanswag: Swat those bugs!

Just a quick reminder -- our latest DS Fanboy contest is winding down, and there are only a few days left to get your name in the hat! Your chance at scoring Drone Tactics and Insecticide winds down this Friday, but remember: you can enter the contest once per day. So what are you waiting for? Head on over to the original post and get your name in!

DS Fanswag: The swarm

It's getting warm outside, and you know what that means -- the bugs are coming. Thanks to DS Fanboy, however, you can enjoy the oncoming swarm, with an insect-themed two-pack of free games. We're offering up Drone Tactics ($29.99) and Insecticide ($29.99) to one lucky reader, and all you have to do is leave a comment below telling us which one interests you more.

The contest will run through Friday, June 6; that night, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, entries will close, and we'll choose one winner in a random drawing. To enter, you must be 18 or older, and a current legal resident of the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec). Have questions? Check the official rules.

DS Fanswag: The contest ends with winners

Another DS Fanboy contest has come skidding to a halt, and we're left with three winners separated from the pack, standing proud and tall. Our three copies of Square Enix's The World Ends with You are going to:
  • Alecto, who loves the Phoenix Wright series
  • s1ipstream, who is a fan of Rune Factory
  • Bryan, who keeps coming back to Elite Beat Agents
Of course, now perhaps The World Ends With You will become their favorite DS title -- it's certainly one of ours! Our apologies to all the entrants who did not win. Never fear ... we'll have another contest soon!

DS Fanswag: The contest ends tomorrow!

Still itching to get your hands on the very excellent The World Ends With You? You can enter our giveaway two more times -- today and tomorrow -- for a shot at one of three copies we're giving away. Hurry over to the original post and get your name in the (extremely stylish and trendy) hat for a chance at a prize!

Anguna brings back the old-school action-adventure game

It's not every day you get surprise homebrew releases like this! Anguna: Warriors of Virtue is a complete action-adventure game for the GBA, boasting five dungeons, unique enemies and bosses, and an expansive overworld. Hidden rooms, secrets, and special weapons -- bear traps, dynamite, and more -- are scattered around Aguna. It's all the work of a single programmer (with sprites provided by Chris Hildenbrand), Nathan Tolbert, who labored over the game as a hobby for the past three years.

Very much inspired by the original The Legend of Zelda, Anguna is an old-school experience that doesn't hold your hand whatsoever. Other than a few sentences to set the plot and a sword, you aren't given much to work with. After you fight your way through the introduction dungeon, you'll need to explore the overworld for a while before figuring out where to head next.

If a lifetime of easy gaming has turned you soft, the official site has a guide for getting started that should help you out. The site also offers physical GBA cartridges of the game if you'd rather not play Anguna on an emulator or off a flashcart, though pricing varies for that option.

To promote Anguna: Warriors of Virtue's release, Nathan is hosting a contest -- the first person to submit proof that they've gathered all of the game's hidden power-ups and items will receive a free cartridge of the game.

Etrian Lottery: Win Etrian Odyssey II's soundtrack

Atlus is conducting a unique contest on their message board -- one which, if you're an Etrian Odyssey fan, you should be entering right now. The prize is a 3-disc soundtrack CD set featuring game music legend Yuzo Koshiro's score for Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard, as they are heard on the DS and in totally retro PC-8801 versions!

All you have to do to be eligible is post a continuation of the ongoing Etrian story being crafted in the contest thread. The best contributor, as judged by Atlus staff, will be awarded the soundtrack. There are resources available to introduce you to the world and the characters, in case you care more about Yuzo Koshiro than Etrian, or you didn't pay any attention to the first game's story. You have until 5:30 Pacific time on May 13, so put on your robe and (thinking) wizard hat!

Atlus has also created an official Etrian Odyssey II Facebook page. If you're enough of a college student to be all about Facebook, be sure to check it out.

DS Fanswag: The World Ends With You

We wouldn't jump up and down in a fit over the greatness of a game without setting aside a few copies for you guys! And since we just loved The World Ends With You, we're going to give three readers the chance for a crack at Square Enix's brilliant new outing. All you have to do is leave a comment right here on this post telling us what you think the very best DS game you've played is. If you were reviewing, what would be closest to the magical ten? We want to know, and that comment may just snag you a copy of The World Ends With You ($39.99).

The contest will run through Monday, May 12; that night, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, entries will close, and we'll choose three winners in a random drawing. To enter, you must be 18 or older, and a current legal resident of the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec). Have questions? Check the official rules.

Dev-signed copies of Spitfire Heroes are up for grabs, along with other games. You've got two more days to enter, which means two more entries for the determined among you. What are you waiting for?

NIS offers contest to win a game and viral candy

While that may sound disgusting, it's not. In fact, we find this Puchi Puchi Virus candy to be almost as appetizing as the budget priced game due out this summer. Now, though, there's a chance for you to get your hands on both the delicious snack and the game it's themed after.

In order to promote their upcoming game, NIS is having two contests, in which the prize is a Puchi Puchi Anti-Virus kit. The kit include anti-virus pills (aka candy), information about Puchi Puchi Virus, and the game itself. The deadline for both contests is May 20th. For one, you must draw your own version of an infected person, name it, and send in the artwork. For the other, you must come up with your own "wacky" virus, name it, and write about what it does.

If you're interested in entering, just click the "read" link below for more information.

Another (slim) chance to own THAT Pikachu DS Lite

Many of you will no doubt recall the gorgeous and very, very yellow limited edition Pikachu DS that remains painfully unattainable to us. With no official release planned for the hardware, we began to give up hope on ever owning one, but it looks like Nintendo could be offering another two Pikachu Lites to winners of a new contest being held to promote Pokémon Mystery Dungeon twosome Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Time.

You can enter once a day between now and May 21st, when a couple of lucky winners will clinch themselves a treasure chest containing the most beautiful DS Lite known to man, a Wii, a HDTV, and more Pokémon goodies than they can shake a stick at. Head here to learn more.
