DJ Sega hits the airwaves with World Destruction radio show

World Destruction isn't just a game. Apparently, Sega wants to create a worldwide media onslaught of WD information. There's the standard JRPG in development, a TV-destroying anime, and even comics hitting the stores. To assault all your senses, a weekly web radio show has now been announced, to begin airing on July 3rd.

The show will be a blog of sorts, with various members of development staff coming in every Thursday to discuss project updates and reveal detailed World Destruction information. Voice actors Furuya Toru and Yuuko Kobayashi will be hosting, and producer Youiti Shimosato will be the go-to guy for any specific questions.

It's all in Japanese, so that's kind of a problem. Minor setback -- go ahead and tune in anyway. In order to learn a new language, you need to listen to it at least once, right?

Destroy the world with your voice

Famitsu has posted a handful of new screens for Sega and Image Epoch's topsy-turvy RPG, World Destruction.

As well as giving us the first glimpse of the battle system at work, there's also some character art featuring members of the World Destruction Committee (and main protagonists) Kirie and Molte, and a wolf/man captain from the World Salvation Committee, which, as the name suggests, is out to save the world, and is thus the direct enemy of the WDC.

Also appearing is an unnamed member of the Golden Lion, a separate guerilla group with similar aims to the World Destruction Committee (disposing of the World Salvation Committee) but a different methodology (not totally destroying the whole world). It all sounds very entangled.

Famitsu also mentions one of World Destructions' more unique selling-points: the ability to purchase and then equip different voices for your characters, which will presumably change the course of battles. The details of how this will work are still a little cloudy, but it sounds like a potentially fascinating addition.

Etrian Odyssey II: Trailer of Lagaard

"There is a legend of a floating castle ..." the new trailer for Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard begins. It may as well have gone on to say "The legend holds that the floating castle is a big dungeon in which thousands of adventurers will get lost and/or killed several times!" Sure, it's not the most poetic telling of the legend, but it has the benefit of accuracy.

Etrian Odyssey II is shaping up to be exactly what it should: the same exact game, with new dungeons, monsters, and classes. Etrian isn't really the kind of game that needs flashy new graphics or features, being a refinement of a very old genre. It just needs to be brutally difficult.

Sega's new RPG, World Destruction, depicted

The protagonist of Sega's superstar RPG World Destruction is a boy named Kyrie who joins a secret organization called the World Destruction force, whose goal is not to save the world from destruction, but to cause the world to end. Kyrie was apparently a normal student until one day when he just up and joined a shadow organization devoted to the destruction of the world.

You'd probably want to destroy the world too if the world you lived in was populated by monsters who enslaved humanity. You'd probably also just want to try your unique world-ending power once. Famitsu's got lovely screens of this vaguely morbid game!

Sega destroys the world with new RPG

Not to be outdone by The World Ends With You, Sega has announced its own apocalypse-impending RPG in the latest issue of Famitsu, World Destruction. With Masato Kato, Yasunori Mitsuda, and Kunihiko Tanaka managing the game's script, music, and character design, Image Epoch (Luminous Arc) is also working on the production, clearing up at least one of the developer's three mystery projects listed on its company site.

World Destruction
will be a traditional RPG with turn-based combat and giant bosses filling up both of the system's screens. Following Blue Dragon and Inazuma Eleven's example, Sega will accompany the game's summer release with an anime starting July. Turn your Bible to the Book of Revelation and head past the post break for a glimpse at two of World Destruction's characters.

More screens illuminate Luminous Arc 2

The Luminous Arc 2 love just keeps on coming. These newest screens show some Flash Drives, some basic attacks, and some character art. The Flash Drives are still a little underwhelming in the details department, but for the most part, the game looks stunning. We also like that the character pictured to the right uses a giant rolling pin as her weapon.

Localization for the game is still not planned, but after news of Etrian Odyssey II coming to North America, we're confident that Atlus will come through on Luminous Arc's sequel soon -- even if it's not an in-house game.

Luminous Arc 2 Will include bonus stuff

In order to promote Image Epoch's SRPG sequel Luminous Arc 2 Will, publisher Marvelous is handing out a bunch of stuff to a lucky few preorderers -- even more stuff than usual. They've announced the bonuses on their website, to be given out upon the game's release on May 15th.

The "Limited Arc" set will contain a Luminous Works 2 book full of artwork and information about the game and a CD entitled Luminous Symphony containing the Yasunori Mitsuda-composed soundtrack. They're at least getting a lot of mileage out of the title with this stuff.

If hearing about things you can't have isn't your thing, Dengeki has included a load of new screens. Go check out some menus that you probably can't read!
