But we aren't sure. Are we getting screwed over by a half-assed Spore, or has Maxis made the right decision by designing a more portable-friendly game? Obviously we haven't all played it, but we're sure you have some kind of feelings already.

So, what do you do in Spore?
And is the DS version like Nintendogs, but with "creatures"?
It looks a little..I don't know. Isn't Viva Pinata coming out soon, I'll probably get that instead.

This reminds me a lot of the Sims 2, which absolutely sucked on the DS.
I think I'll be sticking to the PC version on this one.

I echo your comments 100%. The Sims2 for the DS was a waste of money IMO. I've followed Spore since it was announced and as I said in an earlier post I will get it for the PC, if I get it (and I'm hoping it's as great as it seems it will be). As for the DS version, I was undecided until I read this, now I highly doubt I'll buy it for the DS.

Given the limitations of the DS, they did the best that they could do. The 2D creatures and focus on the creature phase are the best ways to present Spore on our favorite handheld. There's still the chance it could turn out to be crap, since it's Amaze who's doing the development and not Maxis themselves, but I'm holding out hope and keeping it on my "must buy" list for now.

Well.. I still think this game has potential for being a great game. Sure, it isn't full-whammy Spore, BUT if someone wants to play the real spore, they should just get it for their computer. I think Spore Creatures looks like a good compromise!
The only thing I'm not too fond of it the graphics. I think the "paper cutout" style can work really well for a game, ie. Paper Mario. but I'm not completely sold on the Spore Creatures graphics, yet.

Color me somewhat less than interested in the DS Spore game.
Spore looks awesome, this game looks, uh... like it has the same name?

I'm not passing judgement on this version, could be great or not, who knows at this point. But I don't think I'll be interested in it. It's the increasing scope and constant flow of other players content that makes Spore cool and this game won't have any of that. I'm really hoping the Wii version is the full game.

I think they did the right thing. Spore is an enormous game with a lot of different angles, and I think trying to adapt that to the DS would have killed what makes Spore so interesting: massive versatility and customization. I think taking one part of that and working with it for the DS was a much better idea.
