Pokemon Battle Revolution and Wii/DS connectivity

The embedded video, available through the usual manner after the break, was taken at a Japanese press event and is the first (that we know of) demonstration of actual Wii/DS connectivity to date, at least in video form. What are you waiting for? Click on already!

2. I don't get it? Are they using the ds as a controler?

I'm not a big Pokemon fan but there are infinite posiblilities with this. I can't wait to get a Wii.

3. Yes, they're using the DS as a controller to select the attacks, just like you'd do in a normal battle in Diamond/Pearl. It's old news, but it's nice to see a video of it. The reason this is so interesting (and is actually something the girl mentions) is just that now your opponent won't be able to see what moves you have, and what you've selected. That's normal for normal battles between games, but it's a first for the home consoles.

You are also able to check the conditons and moves of the other Pokémon in your squad who you don't have active, from the looks of things. I'd imagine more than a few people would find that useful, especially those used to playing via a Netbattle client, or something similar.

4. You know, the DS is as powerful as the N64, which had 3D animated battles in Pokemon Stadium. And yet, Diamond and Pearl still use static portraits with 'shaking' and such. Basically, there is no reason for this Pokemon Battle Revolution to exist, except as intentional Pokemilking.

5. I really love it when people say things like, you know the ds was as powerful as the n64, why are they so damn lazy... This really isn't true. Yes, the DS CAN play SOME games on the 64, but the REALLY GRAPHICS INTENSIVE games aren't that easily done. If you looked @ pokemon stadium, that is a visually pleasing game which pushed the n64 to its limits. This is the same reason why we won't see OOT, or MM on the DS. Yes Mario64 was in fact ported, but guess what? IT was the first game developed on the n64 and thus did not use the full extent of its power!

//end rant

6. Yeah, I guess you're right. There's no way the DS could display two animated characters at the same time.

7. The DS is as powerful as the N64, at least! Nintendo said so themselves. By the way, Mario Kart DS vs. Mario Kart 64 = proof.

8. Actually I disagree, the DS can preform just as or near as high as the N64. While mario might be one of the biggest games to come out on the DS that is exactly the same as its older N64 Brother, there are many games coming out that already look amazing.

Have you not watched ANY video from Final Fantasy III?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzr2C7GotBU&mode=related&search=

Or even more impresive, check out Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. Look at that, it looks like a port from Dragon Quest VIII on PS2. Sure, not as good, but jesus, look at that.

If you havent watched the DQM video, I urge you to do so.

9. About all I got out of this is that Nintendo is finally realizing that sex sells. Those presenters have no bras on LOL!

Posted at 5:58PM on Oct 2nd 2006 by wayne 0 stars

10. yeah, the DS it totally not as powerful as the n64. have you played mario64 for it? it's great and all but if you hold it up to the real thing it's no contest.

11. Awesome!

By the way, Pokémon Battle Revolution is looking WAY COOL! The whole atmosphere and style to the graphics, the game, the text, the HP bars, the music, and the fact that the camera does not shake! So many improvements over the GameCube Pokémon games (which literally made me motion sick with that stupid unsteady camera effect)!

12. Mario 64 was a launch title, and a direct port, see post 8 for the future of DS. Try reading what others say instead of just posting your opinions.
